I drive by a Ford dealer every night after work and their DH’s have been sitting since last fall, for the most part. They also are “less desirable” specs, as they’re automatic and non HP’s.

Could be, but in my case I’m 26 and really appreciate the heritage and name plates of the 350/500/M1. And, little things such as the S550 having the classic Mustang dash shape, etc.

My daughter is 13 and we test drove a few Dark Horse HPs together.....she thought the dash looked too plain....like it could be any other car.....she said fun cars should have gauges and buttons .....not ipads (I didnt feed her any info before-I wanted her opinion without my influence to see if I was just getting too "get off my lawn" with the screens)

We also test drove a Mach 1 HP (10A) and she said she liked the Mach 1 better then the Dark Horse. She said I could sell my car for a Mach 1 if I ever wanted to change but never a Dark Horse

Crazy enough- we have also test drove GT500s together and she said she didnt like the big hood- that it made the car feel fat - she said it felt like a roller coaster when I let it eat but that just driving around she thought my car felt more fun - so she said the only other Mustang Im allowed to buy is a Mach 1 - Grabber Blue....6M.... HP ...leather Recaros

I always look from time to time as if I found the perfect car I might add it but yeah finding a Mach 1 in that spec is dang near impossible ......I would only want something within 200-300 miles of Southern CA - been looking for fun for a little over a year and have never seen that spec come up so that has to be good for long term collectability that finding the right spec car is this hard......it took me over 2 years to find my car so I wont give up lol

Well, first off, the fact that you got to bond with your daughter over these cars is fantastic! But my sense is that the Mach 1 that you are allowed to buy will be eligible to be driven in, oh, say, about 3 years....... I look forward to the follow up post when you find that Grabber Blue Mach 1.

I recently went back into BAT's sales history and continue to watch for Mach 1 listings there. I've recorded 24 Mach 1 sales, the last being June 2026.

Comparing Mach 1 and DH sales at BAT, the numbers are 24 to 18.

About two years after the Mach 1's debut, there was a cluster of sales. I can understand that? People bought, enjoyed the car and moved on to something else. With respect to the DH, BAT sales seem to have happened sooner in that model's production.

Something else in the attached: reserves not met. Mach 1 listings where reserve was not met: 25%. DH? 50%.

Hawk? The way their Mustang inventory moves is weird. Some of the autos fly off the lot and some sit for a long time. Options are usually similar. The manuals do usually move fast but they don’t typically order a lot of them.
Yes, Hawk. I go to the bank over there every night to deposit my cash. I notice that red DH and the black DH have been there for quite some time. I know for awhile there was the stop sale on some of those cars. The GT’s seem to move fast though.

What a great story. Don’t give up on your search either, or settle for one you don’t want. The one you want is out there. I was shocked when I found my Mach 1 spec’d how I wanted, minus the rear seat delete, which I added. It was random at 3am. I called later that morning and the rest is history. Would you keep both cars or get rid of the R?

THank you and I would attempt to keep both .....it took me 2 years to find my Performance Blue R and I cant see ever selling it - I work from home so dont drive much so more then likely Id sell my crappy Accord daily driver and use the Mach 1 for running to the store/gym exc. (I drive my Accord MAYBE 2500 miles a year) On the weekend I would rotate between them......

My daughter is getting an S550 Ecoboost for her first car (part of our deal if she maintains close to straight As which so far she has) and she wants to learn how to drive manual - so I thought in the future it would be fun to hit up cars and coffee and we can take both the Mach and the R

Its really crazy as every time Ford has launched a new Mustang- I have always wanted to move to the newer one......this is the first time I have ever not wanted to move to the newer car .......The S650 looks have grown on me- especially when lowered with wheels ....but yeah every time I sit in one....I just cant......

I took my 9 year old son on lots of different car drives as I was narrowing the search. He loves the Dark Horse and says that he likes it better than my GT350R…
My R is more of an enthusiast spec, whereas I can see the screens being a draw for the younger generation. Huge turnoff for me though…
Imo the Mach 1 remains the best value for money of a modern sports car. I got a great deal on my GT350R in January (2026), 2016 with 2,803 miles for $63k. Mint condition. I think I caught a dip.
the Mach 1s with HP, tremec and recaros were a little less than that, but I thought that the condition, low miles and special bits on the GT350R (carbon wheels, voodoo… etc) were worth the premium.

This... every non-mustang owning friend that I've let drive my 2021 Mach 1 HP has the same reaction which is something along the lines of "maybe I should buy one of these". Doesn't matter what their background in cars is.

I recently went on a drive with a friend who works at a Porsche shop. The group was all Euros with several high-end Porsches. At the end of the drive, my car was getting showered with compliments. They had some of the Carbon Revolution wheels in the shop and were shocked that my MUSTANG had such expensive wheels from the factory. The sound of course was also a highlight.
I traded my friend and let him drive my car for awhile. He texted me the next day that he's going to start looking for a GT350R... I told him Mach 1 HP or GT350R is where it's at!

Doesn’t surprise me. There are more than few Porsche and Ferrari forum members with 350s in their stables because they understand what it is.

Also, I’d still take a plain ass 350 over a Mach 1 HP, maybe no CF wheels and a few other bits but it’s still got that unique feel/sound/look over the Mach 1. And, I’m a big Mach 1 fan myself.

I do prefer the look of the Shelby over the Mach 1... Both great options though.
