The damn fuel pump issue.....

Tracking my M1 today. Hot AF in Oklahoma (100 F by 11 am). I did swap the stock fuel pump out for the DW400 but still having fuel cut issues when tracking out of a fast left turn. Now I am getting fuel cut/hesitation when I am over 6500 RPM. Livernois Flex tune. I did go from using full E85 to a 50/50 blend of E85 and 91. The only other change was removing the driver side fog light insert. Stupid question but would that allow THAT much more airflow through at high speeds to cause the cutting over 6500?

Am I looking at a complete fuel system overhaul if I want to keep tracking this car? If anyone has found a solution, please chime in.

I guess since I won't be setting any personal best lap times today I can swap those DBA pads and let y'all know if they are worth buying.

KPM supposidily resolved the sweeping left turn starvation issue with improved bucket/venturi design (All the Dark Horse Track Attack cars switched to their KPM800 pump module) and the ram air into the air cleaner had no impact on intake temperature or performance on my Mach 1 exept giving bugs and dirt debris a straight shot into the filter, the stock cold air s-bend path to the air filter has plenty of high pressure flow. I just installed the KPM pump in preparation for HPDE events and I'm working on mounting a Radium Filter w/6-micron microglass media. I run E85 and I wasn't going to wait for the recalled OEM pump to give out or worry starvation concerns.

I will say the fuel cut is a bit better with the DW400 compared to the stock pump but this cutting over 6500 is new. But I will look into that KPM kit. Thank you!

The gen3 bucket fill rate from a single saddle side is sufficient at the stock power level on gasoline. Othwise it needs to fill from both saddles if you’re at wot long enough. If starvation in turns is the cause, a dw400 was never going to fix it. I do wonder if your venturi is obstructed per the recall description.

Adding a tiny amount of airflow wouldn’t cause this.

Yes, known issue for people that track the car. Usually high lateral g's and depending if you are on high grip tires/ skill level. When i was at Daytona I saw steeda testing the KPM fuel pump. I haven't had issues with KPM 800 and E85. Install was a PITA. BTW, off topic but you might also want to invest in oil baffles or better oil pan since that will be a more costly repair than cavitating the fuel pump.



As for removing the Mach 1 light insert on the driver's side to allow more air, i haven't had any issue. I did see that someone put a filter cover on theirs to minimize the turbulent airflow causing MAF issues. See minute 1:31 in the second video.

At what power levels does a fuel system become important? I am looking to go ESS next year. G2 kit. Goal is 650-700 wheel. They use the DW415 it looks like. Hoping that is enough for my goals.

Supplying enough fuel for a drag car or occasional street blasts is completely different from top speed runs and track days, especially with long sweepers. Keeping the bucket “full” is basically optional for street and drag use.

In order to run e85 in needed a fuel system so I went with th KPM fuel system makeimg 728 whp on e85 @ 97° with 75% humidity

The KPM 1000 hp Fuel Module uses two high-performance Bosch racing fuel pumps rated at 300 liters per hour each (totaling ~600 L/h), alongside dual-acting Venturi lift pumps.

Did you get the filter you will need it because it doeaent have filter socks on it
