@Skye From what I can tell, my preferred configurations are rather “rare”. Configuration 1 shows up I believe 15 times in your registry, and Configuration 2 only shows up once. Seems like most went for a “combo” build in one way or another. Not either end of the “extreme” spectrum such as my preferred configurations portray.

I think Covid and the supply shortages altered the way people ordered their cars to make sure they got them. Could have something to do with the combo build theory

Ahh good call Mark. I didn’t even think of that. Wish I could have one of each extreme over one roof. Along with a loaded 350 and barebones R. Oh to dream…

Configuration 1: Tremec, 700A, Handling Package, Security Package, Elite Package, Recaro Leather Seats, Navigation, Black Painted Brake Calipers

Configuration 2: Tremec, 600A, Handling Package, Recaro Cloth Seats, Rear-Seat Delete, Red Painted Brake Calipers
Configuration 1: not a lot of people selected Recaro seats. Fewer still the Race Red paint.

Configuration 2: Recaro cloth buckets, RSD and Race Red paint would be a rare combo indeed.

That’s kind of my point. The Mach 1 is an S550, but not all S550’s are Mach 1’s.
Exactly. You KNOW if you see a FJG S550, it IS a Mach 1. I read somewhere that 53% of them are FJG, it is indeed the signature color. I was VERY hesitant to buy mine for a minute, but the longer I have it, the more I love it. And I get compliments on it all the time. A few nay sayers too. You either love it or hate it, kinda like many colors.

I ordered mine in Velocity Blue because Blue is my favorite color and I think VB looks awesome! I like bright colors but Mach 1s look great in any color. Was mostly going to do weekend runs and occasional trip to the strip so didn’t need the handling package. I ended up putting wider wheels and tires on anyways. I still wrestle with getting the tremec or not but the auto is faster at the strip and nicer to drive on trips. So I don’t regret it!

I was shopping for c7 grand sports and then the launch video came out with the fighter jet grey mach 1 with HP. I honestly just fell in love and said "damn that is amazing" I always thought s550's were cool but nothing stopped me in my tracks. I know some people hated the wet cement muted grey look that has taken over the world but i thought it was stunning with the orange accents. The car looks like what happens when the aftermarket gets a hold of a car. Stunning complicated wheels, low ass lip, big spoiler, stickers great sounding exhaust etc but in my opinion tastefully done. Many people to this day dont believe me when i say the car is mostly stock from an appearance perspective. I lowered it and did gt500 side skirts.

when ordering I did

-a manual cause i only want manual sport cars
-fjg cause see above
-HP cause see above
-recaros cause race car and i don't like the couch seats
-rear seat delete cause I like sports cars with two seats. weekend warrior. I am not putting people back there

I did not do the upgraded stereo or navigation cause i thought it wasn't worth it.

I thought i never would buy a brand new car but my dealership gave me sticker out the door so hey ive worked hard and wanted to do it.

So, I am not much for buying new cars, but this one hit all the spots (and I own a 71 mach1).

Race red is a requirement for me, for all vehicles.
Red brake calipers....well, duh?
why not get the HP, it is a performance car, option it out so
Stick was mandatory, of course.
elite, at that point, just add the bells and whistles for relative pennies.
Standard seats - kind of wanted the recaros, but decided if I start tracking it often, I'll swap in better aftermarket seats
No RSD - I have a kid too young to be able to sit in the front legally, and so him and wife could ride at same time. Somewhat regret this decision.

When trying to secure an order for 2021 Mach 1 with manual transmission in April 2021, I learned that all allocations (for the country) had already been sold and the last one available (with MT) in the whole country was one which one dealer ordered for the showroom floor. Incidentally it was FJG (which together with Velocity Blue was on the list) with Y-spoke wheels. I was not partial about the wheels at the time I ordered it, but eventually was happy I did :) .
For the US audience, the color and wheels were the only options we could configure here. The rest was basically non-HP, 700A, Elite package. In retrospect, I would not want it differently :sunglasses:.

A lot of 2021-2022 600A cars that were ordered with Recaro's got leather Recaro's instead of cloth due to supply shortages. (Which is actually a downgrade if you track the car)

Explain how the leather is a downgrade, please. Just did a track day with my leather Recaros and didn't find anything negative about the experience.

Not that it matters to me, just interested in your perspective. When I ordered in early 2021, the must-haves were

1. Tremec
2. Handling Pack
3. Leather

My 2021 order was Grabber Orange. When it got canceled, my dealer just assumed I wanted Cyber Orange as the 2022 replacement. He was a bit irked that he had to re-do the order in Eruption Green. My wife picked the color and I'm pleased with her choice. Every time I have the car out I get compliments on the color.

For me, had to be FJG as my home team plays in tangerine (orange) and so all the orange highlights (incl the seats) were a no brainer for me.

Had to be an auto as due to a disability unable to drive manuals.

The only other 2 options you got in the UK were recaro leather and y shape alloys. Eveything else that comes in the 700a, security packs, elite packs etc we already got as standard. Appearance pack is the only other option which basically means you get the FJG and orange calipers.

Mine is a FJG non recaro, which I prefer, as I do not track, and they have an orange stripe so even better!

Mine did not come from the factory with y shape alloys but I had a new set with new michelin rubber ready and waiting anyway.

So now it basically has eveything I wanted.

If anyone in the UK wants the 5 spoke standard alloys, in pristine condition, with near new michelin tryes with approx 6mm even tread, drop me a message ha ha

move to the south. Leather is a downgrade if you do not have cooled seats, or when just getting into it during this time of year. They get so bad that we put towels and such over the leather seats for when we get in in our trucks.

My car stays under a carport, so it is not bad at all, but I would not buy leather seats on anything that sits out in this sun/heat all day.

my 86 Bronco w/ cloth seats however, never had it blister the back of my legs up getting in on a summer day

Good point. Mine is not a DD and is garaged here in the waaaay north. Temps were low 90s with 100 heat index at Monday's Road America track day, but it wasn't horrible for me as we were forced to wear long pants and the windows down.
