I have a stock 2021 Mach 1 and contacted a performance shop about getting a tune. He said I should get a cold air intake before I bring it in. I was under the assumption that the GT350 intake that is stock on the Mach is in fact a CAI. The performance guy insisted it is not. Help! Also, is there a recommended tune manufacturer I should consider? I’m a little naive to all this.

Look up Wengard for a tune. You don't need an aftermarket CAI on a relatively stock car. The biggest gain from the tune will be the transmission shifting if you an auto or if you have e-85 available in your area.

I would find another tuner. I hear Wengerd is good. But all air intakes are cold air intakes even the stock ones. The Ford CAI on the Mach 1 is equal to or better than what's out there. It all comes down to the size of the filter element and inlet tube. And those are already big on the Mach 1. If you are keeping it NA, then getting a tune is not going to squeeze out any more than 10hp or so up top. You'll need additional changes, i.e. headers to see more. Or switching over to E85 to see real improvement. My advice is to save your money up to make a bigger change to the car, then you're not paying the tuner twice.

Whatever performance shop that is, I would avoid it. Go with Wengerd. You won't be disappointed. E85 and Headers see the biggest gains.

I third Wengerd. Works great on mine, best tune I have had. And I just did a Steeda filter, left the intake alone..

Power wise is there any meat on the bone left to make more over the stock tune? I am a manual like you so the better shifting and such that people get from a tune doesnt do anything for me.

I think so. It definitely felt better with just the tune. And after the headers it hit even harder. May be placebo but I feel like it's better. No dyno numbers but I like it. My mechanic said my car is the healthiest Gen 3 NA Coyote car he has ever driven and he has driven hundreds of them. Most with boost but NA it is strong.
