My AC died for the 3rd time this summer. Want to guess, HP hose or Compressor?

Well it's official.... The HP hose cracked again. In the same place as the others HP hoses. On the bend going into the weld at the connection.

Also, as a bonus, when I went to back the car out of the mechanic's bay to leave. The car would not start. The clutch sensor failed. 🤬

The two biggest issues I have with this car. The AC and that clutch sensor struck at the same time.

Lucky for me they had a clutch sensor in stock and I was able to get it put and on my way.

I also got a new battery. I noticed it seemed to be weak this year so I just pulled the trigger.

I don't remember seeing it mentioned earlier in this thread - what shape are your motor mounts in? Is it possible excessive engine movement is contributing to the repeat failures?

That is possible and has been discussed. But can't really tell if they are bad. I just started the car up and there was some movement but just barely. When the engine was reved I some movement maybe a 1/8 or less than a 1/4 inch.

Also there are rubber connectors on the end of the hoses so you would think it would absorb the vibration or some movement.

Might be the next step.

The AC is dead again. Blows hot air. Next week is going to be hot as well. Temp in the mid 90s. 😡🤬😢

No way. What are you doing to this thing? I saw you posted a thread a while back about getting an ESP or not. Did you?

Hello; revving in neutral does not give a true range of movement. When the transmission is in gear the engine is trying to spin the drive shaft. The torque of that spin will use up any cushion in the engine mounts before it spins the differential and the wheels.

Some hot rodders use solid engine mounts or simple chains to severely limit the rocking of the engine. That way the spinning torque has to get to the wheels immediately. Production cars for the public have some cushion in the mounts for a better driving experience.

There should be a mount for the transmission worth checking.

I do not know if any Mustangs have a two-piece driveshaft, but if they do the mount in the center of the shafts deserves a look.

I do not know the whole story. if the same part is failing over and over it does not seem likely to be the part. An example is a neighbor kept burning up serpentine belts. He asked me to look at it after the third belt in a few months. I found two things. One was a bad idler pully, but the real culprit was a misalignment of a major accessory driven by the belt. Some shims fixed it.

If you go to the same shop might be the way things are tightened down. it is often bad to tighten bolts/fasteners one at a time. I try to get the part in place and start all the bolts/fittings a bit loose at first. Then torque them down a little at a time. I also do not much like power tools for most final assembly work. Spent too many years only having hand wrenches and like the feel.

good luck.

Yes I have ESP and everything is covered by warranty.

Thanks for the information. You have given me some items to check. The GT350 does have a two piece driveshaft.

It is drive me crazy as no one seems to figure out why the part keeps failing. I am to the point of replacing the motor mounts just for my peace of mind. This lady fix lasted two or three weeks. Something is not right.

The mechanics that work on my car are both 30+ years of experience working on Ford's.

Hello; an extension of my thoughts are the other mounts in the AC system not directly associated with the part directly. Maybe some fastener/bracket a bit away is out a bit, not shimmed properly, installed backward or some such.
There is a strain on that part. Does not seem likely several parts in a row are faulty or poorly made. Not impossible, however. i do not recall if you tried a different part make.

Some years ago, my father bought a Ford E-150 van with a 351 Cleveland. I left my f-150 with him and took the van home. Something wasn't right. i wound up having to modify the engine and trans mounts to get the angles of the tail shaft of the transmission closer to straight in relation to the rear end. has the engine or trans been out of the car?

No. Not that I'm aware of. Bought the car new. Didn't have the issue until the last two summers. Just turned over 80,000 miles.

The AC HP hose saga continues. Today it was verified it's the HP hose.... Again. This is number 8 or 9 I think. The dealership escalated the issue up to the mothership Ford. So in the meantime nothing will be done until Ford gives direction. I get to enjoy the mid to up 90s temps with heat indexes into the 100s with the added bonus of the engine heat. 👍 Life is good. Still love car. Also it's an up grade to the GT500!

Where exactly is this happening? Do you have a photo? I'd like to inspect. Is there a service bulletin to prevent this?

Check post #54 in this thread. And there is no TSB for this, nor for the crappy compressor or evap core.
