Will someone please correct me if I am wrong, I have a 2020 picked up Nov 2019, and just today I noticed bubbling under the front edge of my hood. Seemingly the typical hood corrosion.

My warranty ended a while ago, am I on the hook for this entirely now?

I also have an MY 20 built in 2019 and noticed the same thing on mine weeks before the 5 year warranty expired. Ford inspected and replaced bonnet and repainted all under warranty. I think it’s worth a conversation, you might be surprised to response as the galvanic action is not something that happens overnight. It has clearly been cooking for a while. Enclosed are few photos of mine.

That doesn’t jive with Ford’s slogan: Quality is JOB #1. They should fix it.

Man that sucks. I thought that was resolved in the 18 and up models.
My 16 has it, I’m letting it get a little uglier before I spring for the new hood.

No idea what reply you'll get from your local dealer. When I bought my '15 in '21 it had the same issue. I discussed it with my local Ford Dealer and was told corrosion was only covered if it was perforated all the way through (so there was a hole) within the original warranty when sold to the original buyer. Surface corrosion, which is probably what you have, is NOT covered.

The Dealer offered to let me purchase a new hood, installation, and finishing for the bargain price of $3000. When I asked how long the new hood would be warranted against corrosion (I specified SURFACE corrosion) I was told for a WHOLE YEAR!

So, my hood still has surface corrosion. Surprisingly it hasn't gotten much worse in the last 5 ish years. I'm tempted to have the corrosion "repaired" and refinished instead of replacing the hood.

I investigated having a fiberglass GT350 style hood installed in lieu of the Ford corrosion prone aluminum hood but I couldn't find a body shop nearby that would take the risk of installing an aftermarket fiberglass hood. No idea where I'll end up with it. I suspect I'll just leave it alone as long as I own it.

Good Luck

@Cobra Jet has a lot of info on this and I believe has all the TSB’s stashed somewhere here. Talk to a dealer too, see if they’re willing to push for you. Ford may say no because you’re beyond the paint & corrosion warranty, but worth a shot

I will defer to the FORD tech experts on this forum, but my understanding is once the corrosion appears no amount of sanding and refinishing will reverse the galvanic action and the bubbling will return.

If you read the TSB posted in post#4, there no longer has to be perforated through for it to be repaired under warranty. If you have it on record they inspected it earlier, you should now be covered as they didn't repair it when they should've.
And as for the price, when I had my hood replaced under the TSB, the bill for the new hood , painting, and installation was right around $3K. At least I didn't have to pay fo it.

I'll have to review the corrosion warranty again. I'm pretty sure I was w/in the warranty period when I had the dealer examine the car. If this "TSB" means that my surface corrosion is (was) subject to repair at Ford's expense I'll give it another try.

But ... The TSB is dated 2020. Which was at least a year before I tried to get the local dealer to replace my hood. So it was in effect when my corrosion "claim" was denied. Not so sure the dealer will be any more receptive at this point but its worth a try.

Thanks for suggesting it.

Yup. Happened to my '15 GT. Got run around from Ford. I decided 'I DID NOT WANT A FORD HOOD'. Replace with after market . It's been 8 years since and all is good!!:like:

I'm hoping mine gets it so I can justify a Cervini to my wife! LOL
My wife was surprised I didn't tell her I wanted a new car, said she would've been open to that due to the circumstances.

I don't want to pay the $$ right now, I love my car and planned on driving it at least a decade.

I do plan on stopping by the dealer and asking, I have a good relationship with them having ordered two Mustangs with them. I have a previous history with Ford due to bad paint on a previous Mustang, I have a slight glimmer of hope they might help me out here due to previous circumstances Ford put me thru.

After the buy back, several years later my steering rack went just out of warranty. Ford was nice enough to cover about 70% of the costs, and in that paperwork I saw they had an allotment of total money they would spend to keep me happy. It was something like $5,000. Maybe that would still apply here.
