Hello everyone,

I am an avid cyclist and for the past 8 years I have been sticking my bike in the trunk of the car (seats folded down) and that was worked out great!

However, I am planning on going on a vacation this summer with my girlfriend. She also rides bikes. He car does have a bike rack, it uses a 2 inch trailer hitch. Anyway, we are not taking her car because we doubt its going to survive the journey. So that leaves my mustang, which is fine by me! But as we know, the mustang does not have the hardware....so thats why I am here.

I am having huge difficulties finding any trailer hitches that I can install onto my mustang, let alone one that is 2 inches wide. Any suggestions? Would prefer a non permeant option because I intend of removing it after the trip ahha

A lot depends on your rear bumper diffuser panel, the straight across Drawtite style might show more than a curved Curt style on a base bumper. I used a Drawtite on my Mach 1 because that particular style is almost completely concealed and simple to remove and install. A two inch receiver might look out of place on a Mustang.

For carrying bikes (as opposed to towing), I would really not recommend an hitch adapter that extends the tongue weight and lever length. It will add a multiplier to forces that are not welcome here.
I agree though I posted the device as one could use it with some caution, it is one thing to carry a couple road bikes (50 lbs) vs a couple e-bikes (120 lbs). I personally would do the former but not the latter with the adapter though I have no experience in this matter.

Nice click bait. I clicked right away to see what bike is towing a Mustang. 🤓

But I mean its possible, I saw a bike in Thailand towing a row of about 5 jet skies LOL

1.25 inch hitch works great on my mustang with my heavy ebike. Also the weight of the hitch helps a bit with traction and overall balance of the vehicle.

I think a 1.25 to 2 inch adapter could work. Depending on how heavy your bikes are. Also get some anti wobble braces.
