Hi,

Rather than me going out front and looking like a douche trying to get a pedal bike into my 17 Mustang, anyone managed to succesfully get an adult road bike into the Mustang with or without removing the front wheel? No one else will be in the car so I can fold down seats, whatever.

If I know it can be done I'll try it.

I think some people regularly put an MTB in the trunk. Did you try doing a search?

Why not remove the wheel? With the very limited height on the Mustang, you need all the help you can get, brother :D. With both rear seat backs pushed forward, you might be able to do it without the front wheel. But I REALLY doubt with it in place. Since each bike is different, the only way to know for sure is to try it. If you don't have quick disconnect hardware on your front wheel, just get it.

Having said that, you have another option, which I'm considering myself, but to tow a single motorcycle trailer: A hitch. And this is the one to get for our cars, if interested: https://www.etrailer.com/p-C11405.html . Good luck.

I expect it will take both wheels removed to fit in the trunk and depending on the frame size maybe not even then. I sized my bike up and it looks like I can barely get it in with both wheels off and it's still a risk of scratching the paint. A better option is a DrawTite or Curt hitch and a good rack. There are photos on eTrailer website of Mustangs with bikes on the back.

I thought the back seats folded down in the coupe. It really seems to me that a bike would fit on the trunk with the seats folded down. No?

I routinely put my bike in the trunk. Fold down the rear seats and remove the bike’s front wheel. It should fit without any issues.

Note: My bike is a road bike.

Front wheel has to be removed.. rear can stay fixed.

Honestly it’s easier to pull both wheels and lay them on top of the frame. Most bikes have quick disconnects these days.

This fits in the trunk with the seats folded (or one seat folded) and wheels removed:
