Pulley Crank Support Vs No Sway Bar

Hello All~

Do to my increasing HP my mechanic is pressing me out to give serious consideration to a pulley crank support. From knowledge and research I believe there are no aftermarket (definitely not stock) sway bars that will fit with the crank support. With that being said, is there anyone that can give some insight about the drive, ride and performance lost without having the sway bar? This is a weekend only (primarily in the summer time) driven vehicle with enough hp that I probably should have a crank support. No racing exclusively at the track “off the line”

If the front sway bar is removed, it will have an impact on handling(negatively). Yes, there are a multitude of ways to work around this but bottom line handling will change. Don't the drag racers sometimes disconnect and/or remove front bars? You can remove 1 end link and drive around and see if you like/dislike before spending money on more mods.

Yea, very easy to take it off and drive for a few days.

what do you mean "one end link"?

I didn't say that. But its very quick and easy to remove the front swaybar.

Just remove 1 side. This will 'deactivate' the sway bar without allowing it to hit any suspension components.

I removed mine, and my car is an S197. I will be honest, I rarely noticed anything from a DD perspective and my car was BONE STOCK when I bought it. But again, I don't go to the road course and push my car in the corners and my experiences may differ to an S550 without the front bar. Mine was removed to accommodate the turbo kit I have but I have it sitting somewhere in the garage for future reinstall.

Yes, like diambo4life said, it will depend on your driving habits how much you do or don't notice it.

As long that you don’t care about handling or never go fast enough in turns to need it…….

You would think that bar would jump all over the place if you take that off.

You disconnect the end link to the sway bar and just zip tie the end link up. I did the same when i was diagnosing a clunking noise after installing new suspension. It won't hurt anything, just a PIA to re torque those bolts, at least for me it was.
