that’s why they should have stuck with Boss. While I dislike the dork horse name, I like that they aren't partnering with anybody for the name. But, to be honest I don't care at all about the history or heritage of the mustang or any of the tuner companies they've partnered with. I only buy things based off of the product it's self, and don't want a bunch of badging of any kind.
Woo hoo! Thump 1!Doesn’t seem to have the carbon fiber track pack, so no. But That’s my opinion.
Yeah. Wow. Amazing. You really nailed the whole reason we are “jacked up” over the name and solved the entire issue in ine go.
maybe we should call it the “cervibi” instead though. You know since they make body kits and all.
thanks for respecting our concerns and contributing so deeply to the discussion.
incorrect. Is the badge said “Shelby” the complaints would vanish overnight![]()
incorrect.
the car isn’t enough of a leap to be a Shelby GT500 or Cobra.
I actually think it would hsvr rven more backlash if they did call it s Shelby.
thsys something we e gone over multiple times already.
ford had two choices that would work:
1. actually invest in greatness snd csll it Cobra or GT500
Or
2. stock with minimum investment theme of the s550 generation but call it Boss.
either would work.
Dark horse sc? Fail. It’s like having a Mach 1 and Mach 1 sc or boss and boss sc or gt350 and gt350 sc. the top model is always its own thing.
Boss or Mach 1 or SVO etc.
Could you imagine?
ford had already decided to call it boss thrn switched at the last minute.
It’s just a bad choice.
the choice could hsvr been salvaged if they did call car was a generational leap. But even thrn having two dark horses in the lineup is just lame.
makes you wonder if ford really does go forward with confusion by making everything “mustang” and the REAL Mustang gets labeled Dark Horse, Dark Horse SC, etc.
Sheesh.
once again incorrect. I explained why your suggestion of calling it a Shelby would be asking for trouble. You just wrote three paragraphs to argue branding semantics, which kind of proves the point. You’re not evaluating the Dark Horse SC on performance you’re debating what deserves the Shelby name. That’s an emotional bar, not a technical one.
Saying it’s “not enough of a leap” is subjective, especially when it objectively outperforms cars that were called GT500. The fact that your main issue is where it sits in Ford’s naming hierarchy—not what it actually does—reinforces that this is about badge expectations, not capability.
My GT350 was $59K when I bought it new. Pretty expensive. The DH weighs more, makes less HP and costs a lot more.Except they literally have Shelby parts. It’s a parts bin car just like the Mach, some of the parts might have been upgraded or tweaked slightly but still originate from the S550 Shelby’s. DHSC has the GT500 powertrain. I have driven a DH HP, it’s every bit as good as a GT350 minus the Voodoo. Not liking the car or the name is one thing, but the product itself is every bit as good as the S550’s.
once again incorrect. I explained why your suggestion of calling it a Shelby would be asking for trouble.
thought I’d get into a little detail out of respect. Obviously it was wasted. Lesson learned.
Thank you. I appreciate and your maturity.Sorry if my tone came off too serious or the wrong waythat wasn’t my intent. I don’t even think “Dark Horse SC” is the best name. But at the end of the day, this is the car Ford built and the name really shouldn’t be that big of a deal. I’m looking at everything else the vehicle has to offer.
And to be clear, I’m not talking about you specifically I’m talking about the broader reaction. The overwhelming majority of complaints I see are centered on the name and where it sits historically, not on the actual capability of the car. A lot of that pushback seems to come from existing GT500 owners who are understandably sensitive about what follows their car.
When the criticism hinges on what it should’ve been called instead of what it actually does, then the issue was never the car ;it was the name.
I drove a DH a few days ago for the first time. Definitely a nice mustang. It was refined and solid. But the added weight and the power difference and personality was noticeably different than the GT350. It's a lot different of an experience. The voodoo changes the car a lot. But yea, the DH is nice to drive.I have driven a DH HP, it’s every bit as good as a GT350 minus the Voodoo. Not liking car or the name is one thing, but the product itself is every bit as good as the S550’s.
No. Not with the dash and front end. I think people would still revolt. Is the badge said “Shelby” the complaints would vanish overnight![]()
This is exactly what I mean. It is beautiful in person and those wheels are ugly but when they’re on the car in person, they’re actually nice.A friend saw the DHSC at Daytona today. Said in person it's gorgeous. He has really good taste. Or at least a taste similar to mine. I'm looking forward to seeing one in person.
I think it's probably going to be a great car. Haters are gonna hate, fanboys gonna fanboy. One thing for sure. Those carbon wheels are wrong. And going to be a giant pita to clean compared to the 7 spokes. But if someone buys me one, I'll suffer through the cleaning.![]()
