Hey all, I'm wanting to try out the Continental ECS02 tires. Upgrading from Pirelli. My car is a 21 with the GT Performance Package. Current tire sizes are: 255/40ZR19 and 275/40ZR19.
Should I mostly do high performance street driving. I like corners, high speed, braking and launches.
Should I keep with the factory tire size or change up to wider, taller?
Any/all input appreciated.

Thanks!

What issues are you having with the current sizes?

None that I know of. Wondering if a wider or taller tire would fit/look better without sacrificing any performance of current sizes, etc.

Taller never helps with cornering, wider does in general. You could probably get away with 10mm wider no problem, IIRC there is a thread or 2 here that can expand on that.
You need to measure your clearances to be sure.

This is doable, and doesn't change your tire specs, other than gives you a little more width front to back , and your wheel width will support. Keep the PP1 option of staggered.
If your brand supports the size . Have fun

I'm about to go to a 285 from the stock PP/PP1 tire sizes, but I'm going square. If you want to extend the life of your tires, I'd do that, but you'd need to buy two more wheels.

Compound matters a lot more than size.

Tire Rack basically showed a decrease in performance when anything other than a factory tire size was used on a factory wheel on a road course.

In the end it just really matters how you intend to use it I think. If it’s for looks then have at it.

I can’t give any info on drag racing.

Just stick with that size on the stock wheels
I agree. The stock tire sizes are the best fit for the stock wheels. If you want wider tires you should get wider wheels.

Also agree.

The OEM wheels are not very wide. Probably not much benefit if any to putting a wider tire on them than the OEM sizing.

As mentioned, the tire matters. The ECS02 is miles better than the OEM Pirellis and a pretty good "endurance 200" anyways.

I'd go 265/40/19 and 285/40/19 about 1/3" taller and wider. Never cared about the performance and couldn't tell a difference in handling street driving but like the look way better, less stretched on the wheel.

You'll love the upgrade to the Conti ESC 2's for agressive street driving. The staggered set up you already have works just fine for me and I like the looks.

If you were doing laps, wide-ass wheels and tires would help.
The PP2, GT350, and Mach 1 HP came with 19x10.5 on the front for a reason. 😁

You could go with 275/40/19 on all 4 stock wheels or even 265 on the front. The 275 will be slightly pinched on the front. If you change rear tire size, then you will need to use ForScan to update the computer for correct speedometer and odometer readings.

FWIW. I am running 285/35/19 on 4 rear PP wheels with 15mm spacers and longer wheel studs on the front. I did need to update using ForScan to correct for different tire diameter; it was 3mph off at 60. This is as wide as you can go on a 9.5 in wheel and I am running RE71RS for autocrossing.
