the one that's perfect, how come? like complete opposite of the bad one, is it luck of the draw when buying these 10 speed cars? if any other 10 speed owners are around Tampa Florida, id like for them to see and compare

i just called and they said no recalls are on the VIN

so i just reset and stopped it yesterday but i can always go back to have it resume, this is my daily and the car doesn't see above 5k rpm that often because of the horrible traffic here in florida
I'm in Tampa and would love to compare... mine is driving me crazy right now.

I enjoy mine just fine
I like mine as well . #27 mentioned it's weak, by far it's a very strong Transmission able to handle 500 plus Horse power, the problem for some comes in when you Wipple Charge and throw over 600 plus HP thru the unit . 500 is fine 600 plus there Glass like throwing a rock at a window.

I'm not saying that Ford / GM should of R&Ded a bit longer and then they would of figured out they needed to use stronger Material on components.
I have 7 k miles on my Mach my car qualifies for a Ford Factory warranty and most likely will purchase very soon , If mine tomorrow goes south I still have 1 1/2 years of power train warranty. But after that if I don't purchase the Ford warranty, I have Hughes Performance Transmission build one a unit .

Anyone who thinks they are weak has clearly never owned a 700r4, 2004r, 4l60, aod, th350, c4, the list goes on. I’m putting over 900 rwhp through a stock 10r80 and have been for some time. Any of the aforementioned transmissions wouldn’t have survived one hit at this power level.

Wait, I wanna know who actually praised that 10 speed?
Owners from both GM and Ford have been complaining about it being weak and hunting for gears. I didn't realize there were al that many people out there that enjoyed/recommended it.
Me.

The gear hunting is a little weird (it was programmed that way for MPG purposes) but to me it’s not super noticeable when driving normally. Where it gets weird, at least in my experience, is going uphill. It wants so bad to stay in low RPM’s to conserve fuel so you have to be in throttle a little more than usual so as not to lug the engine. Mine came about a quart low on fluid from factory, otherwise it’s been really quite good. That’s not to dismiss the issues that others have had, because they certainly are real issues, but I think that comes with the fact that tens if not hundreds of thousands of them are manufactured, you’re bound to have some with issues with products produced at that scale unfortunately.

I do think GM did the tune better in the Camaro than Ford did in the Mustang, primarily in the shift point logic. I’ve been test driving Explorer ST’s, the shift points in those is really good IMO. I assume it’s the same 10 speed as the Mustang and F-150, haven’t dug that deep yet.

Agreeded on above , and glad to hear your having success with double the stock NA HP thru a Stock unit and hope you continue too . A acquaintance of mine 19 GT Premium twin turbo the same HP numbers , wasn't so fortunate . He is on a Performance built unit .
I ran a turbo 400 , and Power glide Drag racing for 25 plus years , I had a local T400 guru build the unit to handle 400 rwhp , then went to a PG and purchased from Art Carr and was a 600 HP unit .
A stock unit of eather ,would not of made it very long , maybe a season at 150 passes .25x150 = 37.5 miles . I know this is different but gives you a perspective . I raced many seasons on each built unit before a freshen up was nessassery.

Lol my transmission in my truck can be clunky as hell. The one in my mustang is buttery smooth. Occasionally I'll get a downshift from 3-1 that will hit kind of hard, but other than that. I like it. Its tuned of course...

I recommend resetting the transmission learning process, and then drive it very gently and consistently for a few thousand miles (maybe as many as 5K) to allow it to re-learn. I suspect that aggressive and inconsistent driving during the initial learning process (aka beating or tracking the car) causes the baseline behavior model to be incorrect. I had a terribly behaving transmission when my 2023 10R80 GT was new, and with gentle, consistent driving and patience, it settled down to the smoothest transmission that I've ever had in a car without any repairs or tuning tweaks, in all modes. Good luck!
Just curious, how many miles on the clock?

Same for me with manuals. I don't find them fun to drive, rather they are just tremendously exhausting and annoying having to clutch in/clutch out and shift for every single gear change especially in traffic or daily driving. And on track they are slower and take your focus away from driving.

Now a tuned and properly setup 10 speed is pure bliss, especially on track when you're banging 4-5 gears in quick succession up and then 5 quick downshifts on hard braking.
Exactly. Everytime I drive a manual I'm like wow this is a pain in the dick, and slower. 😆

And yes I've has a quick stick car, 9.80s all motor.

A lot has to do with the tuning of the trans. The vast majority of aftermarket tunes modify stuff that makes no difference and then make stuff worse that ought be left alone. I can list all sorts of examples but most in the tuning world don’t have a clue how the clutches and pressures are actually determined and controlled or how the adaptive works. It’s also quite popular to get rid of shift torque modulation but I keep that in place and even add it into character 2/drag mode when forced inducted.

I mean the one thing that bothers me is that my car before this was a bone stock charger 392 and the ZF8 was phenomenal for 3.5 of years of owning it and I honestly thought this 10 speed would compare to it but it doesn’t come close, yea I’m at 680whp now compared to 380wheel 392 charger but the trans is still a serious disappointment

*Harsh engagement from P to D(hits my head against the headrest sometimes)
*The kickdown in all drive modes is very delayed when you floor it and downshifts on its own
*Paddles are extremely delayed most of the time (2-3 second delay in response)
*Lots of clunkiness especially between 1-3
*Takes a large amount of throttle input to downshift especially when merging onto a highway
*It hunts a lot for gears at times, every and all shifts are never smooth and snappy
The only similarity to mine is the delay in the paddles, but it doesn't seem to be as bad as yours. In normal mode mine does take a bit too much throttle input to downshift, but it's very responsive in sport or track mode. No clunkiness or harsh engagement. I guess I got lucky.

How is yours?
Annoying, if I take off slow enough it'll go 1st to 2nd and it's a jolt, then 2nd to 3rd the same. Sometimes going into 7th under medium accel is a jolt too.
I have a 3.15 diff ready to go on in the hope that it'll smooth it out some and allow me to use any gear other than 6th WOT.
