Yeah, weight reduction is over. Unless a carbon tub/unibody and adding another 200k is in the GTD's future.

Something else...the Predator engine was developed like 8 years ago. We all thought the government was killing off ICE (in more ways than one). With CAFE and emissions standards easing, Chevrolet with their 1,000 plus hp engines, Dodge readying to Hellcat everything, shouldn't Ford have something to respond with beyond a pulley and a tune to mondo power their finest?

Get off your ass Ford. Now is the time to dust off those projects you killed for the sake of electrification. Farley - if you're gonna taunt GM you better have a good hand. Make a few phone calls and get the ball rolling.
To get rid of any weight off the car, you'd have to redesign all the heavy steel components of the car and replace with lightweight alternatives. Some things have to be structurally sound, the doors for example, are steel. They can't do carbon fiber doors without a (at minimum) 6 pt roll cage. Think about other really heavy parts and pieces that are made of steel... make them out of titanium and BAM! There goes the price of the car exponentially. As stated, we are stuck with the weight of the car and it is what it is.

We are stuck with the chassis and all the rest of the stuff adds up despite CF body panels and CC brakes. The transaxle, supercharger, and boat anchor of a chassis all add up.

Well to get a sense of what a stripped down s550 would weigh, GT3 race Mustangs are around 2,700–2,900 lb depending on the class.

Indifference^^ . There is only so much that can be done. Each manufacurer has decided on their platform and they have to live with the result.

Again, a good time to be alive if you are a car guy.

hmm. I’m not saying Misha is the Nurburgring god but interesting statement he made. He did one for the GTD too I believe.

5 to 10 seconds is a big deal if true… Misha certainly knows the track and is more experienced than any of us to comment on it (not that that would or should stop us from doing so lol).

This is surprising, but then again it is a very long track, .1 sec per corner adds up.
Respectfully, that’s why I said the lack of a pro driver is a factor. It was absolutely no disrespect to the engineer who drove the ZR1…I’m sure he’d mop the floor with me and he did a great job. But he also didn’t want to put his company car into a wall since they pay his salary lol. So there’s always that caution in the drivers head that Misha referred to. I honestly think GM knew that with 200 HP more and 300 pounds less weight they knew they’d beat the GTD with a solid driver who knew the car really well. And they didn’t have to wait for an outside driver to learn the ZR1 either.

IF the GTD is able to edge a lower time down the road, GM can then play the “ok, we brought a pro driver this time” card to retake the best time. Again, happy to be proven wrong down the road but there was no reason for GM to lay it all out right away…all that would do is give Ford a time target they could then re-engineer the GTD to hit. Just my humble opinion. :)

I’m not much for the youtubers ans instagram types. That said, has he any oem hired him to do official runs? Or even any testing on any cars…

I can understand that. I would really like to see what Lars Kern can do with the ZR1

You’re calling people fan bois and that has zero to do with it. You’re literally contradicting your own posts. As for the other, what’s your engagement date?
Why you want to be there? Posting that would dox myself. thanks but no thanks.
