That R isn’t really a reference or data point. Reality is those wanting a base R is a very very small audience. If that was a regular R that was a 19 or especially a 20, that car would have been almost six figures if not six figures. That particular seller sells some amazing vehicles and has a stellar reputation. The idea that a particular car that doesn’t sell or reach a reserve on a particular week somehow is a market reset is pretty funny actually.

That’s because most people don’t know or understand what a Base R is. They see AC delete, radio delete, etc and just pass. It can obviously be street driven without those things, but it was really made for the track with the extra weight reduction. Guys and gals that want a Base R know what it is and will pay for it, it’s just a very small buyer pool. Makes it tough to gauge what the actual market value is, they don’t come up for sale too often.

As for the greedy dealer comment, if that were a regular R, that’s still probably under market value at delivery miles. Probably at least low/mid $80’s for a delivery mile 2017 R. 2019-2020 R’s are going low/mid $90’s with some miles on them.

As base R’s go, it’s to hot around here half the year to not have ac even if it’s only driven rarely. I get paid by providing value. If you needed to make payroll, why sit on an asset that is losing money every month? Kind of a bad comparison.

Interesting how they spec'd "Gen 2" motor on this one. Do they always do that? The white one didn't have that call out.

Diamond will put that in some of their R descriptions, yes. I haven’t seen Chicago Motor Cars do it much in their listings

Hello; Supply & demand ought to play out. Unless Ford or some other manufacturer comes out with an equally desirable or more desirable product then the supply will remain limited. Near as I can tell Ford is no longer making an equivalent new version, so the supply is pretty much set.

That leaves demand. How many folks with the sort of extra money to spend want the cars. I make an assumption these will be third, fourth or more cars for potential buyers. I figure few, if any, will be daily drivers.

I watch TV shows about classic cars. On one series, Graveyard Cars, they rebuilt junkyard scrap into very nice cars. I imagine the cost to buy one of those is very high. There must be enough demand in order to justify the expense and effort to turn a mangled wreck into a nice car.
