GTD allocations should be this week

I thought I had seen some where where the new ZO6 was in the 7:11-7:12 range at the ring.

But a GTD is a poster car. I still want a GTD. I'd never put a poster of any of the current C8 models on my wall. And if my son does, I will rip it down.

But I do think the Z06 with the correct package (I forget what GM calls their packages these days) will probably be faster than the GTD.

Some times I think people have their heads inserted. And they claim to be auto enthusiasts. Under 7 minutes there's no clobbering or whatever those types like to throw out. The ZO6 looks to me a much better balanced car for track duty then the ZL1. I'll be curious o see the differences. GM has said the ZL1 was suppose to be more road friendly. Nothing about the Gtd is road friendly. Kidding a little with that.

At a minimum, I bet it’s a lot closer than some may think (referring to those that think the ZR1 will clobber the GTD). The ZR1 is also a big car and I’m really curious how “track ready” it actually is

I always think of this video whenever someone mentions the C8 Z06 for whatever reason. Obviously two very different cars at very different price points. But a car that was very much not made to be 1/4 mile fast still beats the Z06 in the 1/4 mile

There’s some guys over on 7G that believe the ZR1 is going to blow the GTD out of the water. I gave up arguing with them a long time ago and haven’t really checked in much over there since. Not worth my time

I’m sure it’s the same clowns that claim a Gt with some mods is a 350 or 500. I do think it’s interesting I haven’t seen any Zl1 sightings pop up from the ring with the GM crew. May have and I just missed it to though.

Sorry, but Z06 is as much of a 1/4 mile car, as a GT350.

GT is far more special than any of these other cars discussed here, no matter what it's lap times are

Eh, I’d argue the opposite. At least without the Z07 package. It’s just as much a straight line car as it is a corner carver. That’s the C8’s big trick, they’re stupid fast off the line and in the 1/4 mile. Heck, base C8’s beat stock S550 GT500’s in the 1/4 mile pretty regularly (the 500 does pull on them at the end of the 1/4 and will beat them pretty handily in the 1/2 mile though).

The Z06 with the Z07 package has the bigger wing and a little more aero, so not as much of a straight line car.

No, Z06 is a track day weapon, made to rev long and high in a linear manner. nobody was designing them for drag racing. Their off the line speed is the result of weight distribution and stupid fast transmission/gearing. They go fast in a straight, but they are not straight line cars. This is reserved for Demons.

Z06 is fast off the line for exactly same reasons as GT.

I’m not arguing for or against either one, I’m just stating what actually happens. Traction is a problem for the GT500 off the line which is a big factor when those 2 cars go head to head.

I would say the same thing about the Demons. They can’t hook off the line so they lose to cars in the 1/4 mile that they shouldn’t lose to on paper. It is what it is.
