Carbon fiber bodies are cheap to produce. That's news. The equipment alone to produce in any kind of volume is in the tens of millions of dollars. Granted not as bad as twenty years ago but by no means like stamping out fenders and panels. The other thing so many simply ignore and over look is the engineering cost for these vehicles, especially the bespoke singular ones. Not saying a Gtd is a 400k car but it's certainly not a 200k at msrp, not in the manner they'll be produced or volume any way. The police countermeasure comment made me think of the old outrun arcade game.
Check out the Ferrari financial statements and note the massive profit margins. I've seen the new ones heavily disassembled mainly for mods, PPF, police countermeasure installs etc and besides the carbon bodies (cheap to produce now) and drive trains there nothing special about them in fact they almost look like hobby built cars with super cheap interiors from the 80s econo boxes. It's the brand you pay for.
