Hello; I give. Never intended to get so deep into the platform. My information was indeed old as i must have read something a while back. Using a basic platform on which to make a variety of car, SUV or truck models is something manufacturers have often done. That was speculation. The Explorer and Aviator are the only vehicles using the CD6 platform. Compare the specs of the S550 and S650. The weight went up a bit, but everything else is really close. In fact, most of the dimensions are an exact match. There were rumors that Ford may have used some components (such as the wiring harnesses)from the CD6. I don’t know if they actually did that.
I do not know if the S550 or S650 platform is suitable on which to build a four door sedan. Not clear to me that such a distinction makes much difference to Ford. They did name & style that EV after a Mustang. I do not know if the EV Mustang uses the S650 platform but will not be surprised if it does not.
Again, one of my points was the Mustang is a large car and i can see a four-door sedan within the dimensions.
