Pisses me off but they are bound and determined to ruin the mustang name. Already did with the Mach E. People on here saying it is good or they would buy it are part of the problem. Want a car for a family? Go buy any number of CUVs out there. That is not a Mustang. I have three kids at home so I know the deal. I would never consider this or a Mach E.
Maybe some of us don’t want another frickin SUV/CUV. Sedans are going the way of the dodo, I’ll take it over another SUV (and I have an SUV in my garage). All the better that it quite possibly will have the 4th gen coyote in it.

Newsflash, the MachE *IS* a CUV.

Yeah, and I said I don’t want another one. One is fine, and the Mach E for all intents and purposes saved the V8 for Mustang. So I have no ill will towards it for that reason alone. I would absolutely love a hi-po sedan though and this Mach 4 has a real chance of happening. The fact that it would have a Mustang badge on it doesn’t bother me one bit. We need more American brand sedans, there’s very few left. Everyone has moved to SUV/CUV and trucks.

I’ll fire some folks up with this too: make me a Mustang wagon! A hi-po wagon like the former Caddie V wagon, sign me the hell up.

Hello; A four door sedan with a Coyote V8 and hopefully a manual available could be sweet. My understanding is the Mustang platform is also used for other current vehicles. That, to me, should mean the platform is already big enough to hold a four door sedan. Not a flaw to be sure but to me the current Mustang is a rather large car.
Nothing else uses the Mustang platform. It was originally based off the DEW98 platform (Lincoln LS), it was modified significantly and became the S197 platform. From it, we got the S550 and now the S650 platform. Only the Mustang has used the S197, S550, and S650 platforms.

Everything You Should Know About the 2024 S650 Ford Mustang

“Even though Ford is carrying over the current crop of engines for the 2024 Mustang, the rest of the car will be all-new from the ground up. For starters, speculations suggest that Ford will adapt its CD6 Platform for the new Mustang, which is its large RWD platform that underpins vehicles like the Ford Explorer. “

“As discussed above, the upcoming S650 generation of Mustang will be based on Ford's CD6 platform. This Platform currently underpins cars like the Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator,”

“The aforementioned CD6 platform is the biggest highlight of the all-new Mustang. This platform which was designed with modularity in mind is now being revised to fit the upcoming S650 Mustang so that means the future Mustangs can entertain the possibility of incorporating an AWD system similar to the Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator. “

Hello; My comments- Articles such as the one linked above are where I got the idea the Mustang shared a platform with other vehicles such as an Explorer. Perhaps the key is a phrase such as the one above “will adapt”. Could both our views hold some measure of fact. The Mustang version of the CD6 platform will be some different from the version under an Explorer.

But even if you do not accept this, my main point in the recent post was to point out that the current Mustang is a larger car physically than some earlier Mustang models. An additional and included point being the platform seems to be large enough the hold a four door sedan. Regardless Ford has been teasing us about a 4x4 and other Mustangs.

I have two wishes. One being they do not actually call it a Mustang. The other being the sedan will have a V8 & a manual option.

It's one of the most important numbers pertaining to the car.

Cars and coffee folks probably don't care.

I’m in too…… :like:

Those articles are old. Ford decided not to use the CD6 for S650. It is built on the same platform as S550

If Ferrari and Aston and BMW and Mercedes can make wagons (shooting breaks), why not a Mustang? Look at all the variations we have for other models- like F150 reg cabs, SC, CC, etc. Back in the day, we had reg cab long bed and short bed. Times change.

Well let's be honest, Station wagons/shooting brakes are not for the US market. And Ford isn't going to make an "export only" special. That said, I would certainly consider one if they did.

That was speculation. The Explorer and Aviator are the only vehicles using the CD6 platform. Compare the specs of the S550 and S650. The weight went up a bit, but everything else is really close. In fact, most of the dimensions are an exact match. There were rumors that Ford may have used some components (such as the wiring harnesses)from the CD6. I don’t know if they actually did that.

I remember when you could get mid 60's Chevy II/Nova station wagons. I think, but I'm not sure, they even made a SS with a small block V8. I wanted one for a while. I still think it would be cool, but it's not going to happen. The SUV killed station wagons.

On sedans; dad had a 1961 Buick Le Sabre, 4 door. It had a 318 cu. in. V8 with a single barrel carb and the hydromatic transmission. It just wasn't a cool car back in the early 70's, but it was a sleeper. Dad could haul a family of 4 with a couple of relatives in comfort down the interstate somewhere between 70 and 90 (usually closer to 90) with ease. Now I never won any races with it, but I never lost by much either.
I had a chance to buy a 2 door with only 30,000 miles on the clock for $300 back in 74, but I wanted a cool car. However, I never met a girl that didn't love dad's old Buick. I regret not buying the 2 door.
