Everyone i talk to seems to think it's a $250K car.
With the ZR1 3LZ starting at $186K, even $250K is being generous IMO.

There’s no way Multi-matic can produce the car for $250k. The Vettes come down an assembly line where the Gtd’s like all the other stuff Multi produces is hand built. I’m not arguing the car is worth 300k+ just that the economics of the production wonā€˜t allow it to be much less. I’d be surprised if the shock setup isn’t in the 30-40k range. Their F1 stuff is very pricey.

No disagreement… but if we’re comparing the two cars on their merits (performance) then it’s tough to say the GTD is worth $250K. That’s all. :)

Performance is but one ā€œmeritā€ of a car. There are many cars that a ZR1 might outperform but that doesn’t mean the they aren’t worth it. And , honestly, the only people that will actually determine it’s worth are those plunking down their Benjamin’s for it.

I’d say for a sub-7 Ring car, $250k is a good price (even though that’s not actually the price). It just so happens that the new ZR1 is incredibly priced for 1,000hp off the shelf. ADM on the ZR1 is going to be insane though, whereas the ADM is essentially baked into the GTD pricing already (I believe Tom mentioned that the dealer that takes delivery gets a fee from Ford). Wouldn’t be surprised to see $50-$100k markups on those, at least for the first year. Rick Hendrick just paid $3.7M for VIN 001 at Barrett Jackson.

We’ll see how the Vette does performance wise. Chevy is supposedly going to run it on the ring. GM by there own admission has said the suspension was going to be dialed in for street use where the Gtd is the opposite. Just by pure vehicle presence there is a stark difference between the two if you see them in person and almost side by side. The Gtd looks like a full blown Gt3 race car with dot standard interior. The Z06 and ZR1 are really nice looking cars, and the Gtd is unashamadly very singular in nature. I get people trying to make dollar to dollar comparisons but with these cars it makes about as much sense as 1/4 mile times being some kind of metric. Just not an apples to apples type situation.

I’ll be curious to see how bad the adm is. I’d also be curious to see what the actual metric will be between the ZO6 and ZR1. I wouldn’t be surprised if the two aren’t that far apart in actual lap times. Hendrick has over the years bought lots of number 1’s for charity. People can say he’s very wealthy and try and diminish that but it’s still cool. Used Z06’s less then a year old with very few miles on them being in the 110-120k range depending on spec is a whole lot of car for the price.

I’ve made the argument to a few over on 7G a while back that ZR1 is a street made for the track whereas GTD is a race car made for the street. There are some engineering differences there that could negate some of the HP advantage the ZR1 has.

GTD is at the Chicago Auto Show and I believe the ZR1 is as well. Hoping to get there later this week or this upcoming weekend to see them. The GM of the dealership I use was there the other night for their first look for charity event. He texted me and said the GTD is the baddest looking car he’s seen from Ford, and they service Ford GT’s.

Unfortunately, and without doubt, if it is in effect when the cars are ready to ship you will see a price increase. Hopefully this to shall pass.
I doubt we’ll even notice. Imports are about 12% relative to our GDP and Chinese imports are about 2%. Raising tariffs 10% on steel and aluminum would add .2% overall to cost. Not to mention Trump had tariffs in his first term and we didn’t see any inflation from those.

Agreed. My bigger concern is not what the actual cost will be but the price increases based on what our companies want us to believe. Prices on gas have gone up on just hearing about tariffs. They can do no good but can do plenty of harm.

And remember Multimatic is a Canadian company. I can just see them and Ford initiate a price increase and blame it on tariffs.

Your not wrong with the mo so many companys try. I highly doubt Ford would go down that path. Especially since this is a halo type production vehicle. Not a look they’d want to have.
