I'm thinking they did the best they could with what the beancounters gave them. Considering the budget constraints they were most likely given getting the updates we did was still a win. Let's not forget we were supposed to get a brand new car. You knew it was over when they decided to just make a massaged S550.
I’m still holding out hope for an 8th gen that is AWD and a hybrid V8. GM did a hybrid V8 with the E-Ray (dumb name but that car flies). No reason Ford can’t do one too

The voodoo line has been gone for 5 years almost now, Romeo engine has been shut down since last contract.

Ford has zero capacity to produce that engine beyond dead stock.
Ford moved engine production from Romeo to Dearborn engine plant. They build new predator engines and new voodoo engines for service.

Sorry to get off topic but I am eagerly waiting to see if the Boss returns. This could be the turning point for the s650 and please bring back the quad exhaust.

All 36 of em!
This is the only part of this program that makes sense.

1. Shelby only built 36 in 1965.
2. Selling (real) race cars is more difficult than it sounds. It’s a business model that reaches diminishing returns quickly and the market is tiny. So 36 units make sense.

However this isn’t a real racecar and I’m sure all 36 are sold already lol.

The whole twin screw blower on track still doesn’t make sense though.

Exactly! The new "R" is a GT with a blower, a bunch of interior carbon fiber trim, a roll cage, an aero package, Alcon brakes and JRI coil-overs. It starts street-legal and ends street-legal. It's not a real race car. It's a track day car, or at least it will be if there's a enough cooling (as much as the S550 GT500) on the drivetrain.

For those who want a genuine Shelby race car, there will be a real race car coming to market in 2026. It's in development in 2025.

Shelby American just unveiled the S650 GT350 at Barrett Jackson. 810 horsepower. They will also make 36 GT350R’s.

Haven’t seen what motor they’re using but assuming it’s a Whipple 5.0. Shelby American car, so I’m assuming they’re starting with a GT and modifying it? They didn’t say much as far as details, live unveiling was only a couple minutes
If this has already been discussed, then my sincere apologies as I have not read through all 14 pages of posts?

Does SA plan to also offer an automatic and manual transmission for their 2025 Shelby GT350 model and if so what a shame that would be and if correct then so much for staying true to your SA roots!

With Bill Ford being allocated the 1st most recent Ford Shelby GT350R namely F0001 and John Atzbach being allocated F0037 for the final most recent Ford Shelby GT350R, who may be in line for the first and last allocations for the 36 upcoming GT350R models from SA?

Suggest to not count on Bill Ford or John Atzbach to request either of those allocations.

When Ford launched the 2015 GT350R model back in July 2015 the FRAP assembled a total of 37 examples for a select number of individuals but with SA offering only 36 GT350R models for the 2025 model year, who got their total production numbers wrong, Ford or SA?

This SA 2025 GT350/R scenario reminds me of the 2008/2009 Shelby GT500KR model which was collaborated with the FMC and the FRAP and turned into somewhat of a disaster and in this case it may even be worse without the FMC being involved in any form from what I can tell?

I believe both auto and manual will be available for the 350’s (they all start life as Mustang GT’s). The R’s might all be manual, I need to read more to know for sure.

I can’t imagine Bill Ford would be in line for one of the 36 R’s, especially since it’s an SA product and not a FP product but I suppose it’s possible. As I understand it, there is no collaboration between SA and FMC on this other than SA has access to the ECU from FMC to do the tune for the Whipple. And of course SA purchasing the GT’s from Ford

No mention of transmission availability except for “short throw shifter”. I read that as M6 only. As it should be!

Makes sense that the R model would be manual only and with that language I would assume that to be the case. Only 36 of them, I’m sure they’ll have no problems selling them all (if they haven’t already).

14 pages of dick swinging….love the cars you have and let others do that too…the one up stuff is quite humorous! I have a 2023 Shelby GT….hate me!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
I don't hate you or the 2023 Shelby GT, but that's what this new car is and what it should have been called. All of the feedback is because Shelby built another Shelby GT but called it a GT350 when the most recently built Shelby GT350 (the one from Ford from 2015-2020) was too recent and drastically more heavily re-engineered than this new car is.
