Why do we need to understand it? While the Camaro and Challenger as we knew them are history we still have our Mustang. Instead of the continual bashing of these new cars how about we just embrace and enjoy them. If you like them enough to buy them, great, go ahead. If you do not, just let them pass by.
Because, instead of making things like the 350/500, they are teaming up with RTR to release overpriced cars that just have simple bolt-ons.

The supercharged RTR package is more than an 2022 GT500 and not even half of the car.

And they give use an EcoBoost version...bleh

I don’t mind the design of the DH now that I’ve actually seen one in person. There’s a few misses for sure. CF wheel design could be better but I do like the split Y, 10 spoke design they use on the HP. Blue Ember is a cool color, though not my first choice (I’m kinda done with dark colors for now). The screens aren’t bad and don’t get in the way when driving, but they could be integrated a lot better IMO. Maybe a mid cycle refresh changes a few things for the better? Overall not a bad car at all, they just missed in a few areas
The Dark Horse looks alright. Don't love it don't hate it. It's not a great design like the 350 was.

It's just expensive for what you get. And it's not any faster than the GT in a straight line (people will say that's not the point but it doesn't look good to have a DH get beat by a plain GT...). Sure it has 20 more HP or whatever but it also gained weight, nullifying that.

Let's not forget about the dumb name and the stolen logo from a bottle of vino...

And as far as the S650, guys wake up already. What we got, regardless of its shortfalls, is far better than what the Chevy and Dodge guy got. The S650 is not a beginning, its and end. See it for what it is and stop bitching already.
If you don't like it, mute me. We're talking about Mustangs here, and I'm giving my opinion. Seems like you're the one bitching and crying all over this whole thread, tbh.

I'm not going to mute someone just because I may or may not agree with them. That's just childish. And you are certainly allowed and encouraged to give your opinion. As am I to disagree about some of the things that are being said.

And, yes, I am bitching, because in a few years when our Mustang is gone forever we will look back at these threads and just realize just how petty they were. Need proof of that? Just talk to any Camaro or Challenger owner who is bemoaning the loss of their beloved cars.

There are the hundred things that could have been better. There are also things that could have been worse. For instance, No V8, No manual transmission, No Mustang. We got what we got.
100%. I liked it enough that I ordered one (and have since cancelled because I got something else). But I was fully prepared to take delivery of it had I not found something else

Here's my primary issue.

Shelby was more or less non-existent until the return of the 2007 GT500. The build of the KR, 40th Anniversary, Super Snake, etc... were all great little updates to an amazing SVT product that was a significant engineering step up from the standard Mustang compared to anything SA could produce in house. This continued on through 2014 and the Shelby brand was re-invigorated for 7 years.

When the 2015 chassis dropped, including the Shelby GT350, they pivoted and began offering "Super Snakes" based around standard Mustang GT's instead. To me this instantly devalued the idea of a "Super Snake" as it wasn't based on a model wearing the snake badge in the first place. To me these should have all been Shelby GT's. SA then also wasted 5 years and completely ignored the GT350 until they offered their pathetic "Signature Edition" which was nothing more than lowering springs, wheels, and some interior "upgrades" that to me seemed more like downgrades given the car's focus. I mean really? Recovering the amazing suede Recaro's with leather is your "upgrade"? They then rolled out of a few very limited versions of the 2020-2022 GT500's afterwards, but none of them could be called Super Snakes because they'd already wasted that name on the Mustang GT horse shit they'd been peddling for over 5 year at this point.

So after burning and mis-marketing the Super Snake namesake for 9 years, they decide to now throw the GT350 name under the bus as well. Again this isn't even built upon the best car Ford has to offer. This isn't a Dark Horse handling package with the Tremec and the 500hp NA motor with some work done to it to sharpen it's blade. This is a lowly 300A based GT package with the shitty MT82 or the prone-to-overheating A10 automatic. Again this should have been the continuation of the Shelby GT from 2015, but SA is out here grabbing at straws and burning bridges since 2015 and trying to force nostalgia upon us when the car it's supposedly attached to, in both the Super Snake and GT350/GT350R cases, simply doesn't live up to those standards that have been set recently. I'm sure if they had made this announcement and offered the 480hp NA version as the GT350 but the supercharged version as the GT500 the backlash would be even greater. I know Shelby started out in the 60's modifying GT's, but you can't make us forget the greatness that SVT and Ford has given us since 2007 just because you want to try to make a buck.

On 7g, someone asked why did they use an updated version of the Voodoo? Well, since Shelby has always used a Ford engine and Ford no longer makes the Voodoo and will not, it's pretty obvious that Shelby American is going to use the existing Ford engine in 2025 SA 350. I dig the heritage of it coming full circle sixty years later from the original introduction in 1965. BTW, did anyone else pay attention to the collection of cars in the background of the Hagerty video? Very nice of collection of many performance cars both old and new.
Voodoo is only reason to get one....it should be a Ford OE option for $7K for the body parts, decals, seats, mufflers, wheel / tire, and tune.

There will be some buyers who can't spend fast enough like the three new RR 2 SUV 1 sedan) at my PPF last week. Two owned buy same guy....

My problem was, don't tell people to stop bitching (that aren't bitching), while you're simultaneously bitching. Also, no one's being "petty", we're voicing our opinion on a car. I'm not just going to accept a mediocre product just to save it. If the Mustang is going to continue going in the direction it is, maybe it's time for it to go. The sales numbers of the s650 say all we need to know on people's opinion of the car.

I'd guess that would be a minority opinion. As the Dodge boys found out a car can continue for some time without major change. Same goes for the 911 crowd. I'd be happy for the S650 to continues just as it is, with minor updates, right up until the day the V8 and 6M are dead.

The voodoo line has been gone for 5 years almost now, Romeo engine has been shut down since last contract.

Ford has zero capacity to produce that engine beyond dead stock.

I'd wager you're correct, and I agree with you. I'd rather there be a Mustang than no Mustang, even if it's the s650. But my point is... through all this, I'm still gonna call it out for being lazy and mediocre 👍

I'm thinking they did the best they could with what the beancounters gave them. Considering the budget constraints they were most likely given getting the updates we did was still a win. Let's not forget we were supposed to get a brand new car. You knew it was over when they decided to just make a massaged S550.
