agreed times eleventy, that’s why I’m only there for ~46 hours until we bail for Tokyo…where one of my past foreign exchange students is meeting me for sushi 😎
One of my favorite cities. Try to snag a room at the prince gallery. If you are bonvoy platinum or AMEX platinum, they will throw you a nice upgrade.

I know you're busy Tom but next time you access the hood can you take a photo of the underside? I'm curious about the pin location for the hood strut and if they reinforced it there.

Hood looks great.
Here you go.....

Edited to add:
Tob, the hood is so light, I really dont think the strut area needs any kind of reinforcement at all.

Stupid question, but is the hood too light for the stock hood strut? And what I mean by that is when you lower the hood to close it, will the strut be fighting you to close the hood. Not sure if there are struts out there that are designed for lighter hoods and I’ve not dealt with CF hoods on any of my cars in the past so I really don’t know.

Awesome hood, @Tomster. Love it!

In the first pic, I'm not sure if you are pointing out the square hole by your hand, or not. The cut corners of the square did bring back memories of my engineering days on best-practices. Best practices are to radius inside corners, as cracks tend to start at sharply formed corners.

You may want to document that with Shelby to get their confidence it will indeed not be a problem at said location(s) and/or that you will be taken care of if/when it may become an issue.

Regardless...enjoy your new toy. I look forward to seeing pics of it on your car.

Update. The day after I posted, Tob asked me to take photos of the backside of the hood. I took some photos and discovered the bond between the A and B side had defects along a seam. There was. O shipping damage and Shelby admitted to me they had problems with these hoods like this early on.

I've asked for a new hood. Waiting on the reply.

Not poo pooing the hood. But, that bonding detail(edge) is so thin that may be an issue later on down the road even if it shows no defect or issues initially. I’d ask that question as well. Most don’t realize how much movement is in a hood once installed. I know you know that. My 350 hood looked like a flag waving at 150 plus.

Guys I’m just going to say this, it’s an Anderson Composites item and those products QA is all over the place. Tom I think you did a good job fully inspecting it because these items will bite you later. My gt350’s carbon was so lacking in quality, I said I wouldn’t buy anymore. However the Ford Performance items they are contracted for seem to have tighter quality standards which I have gotten for the 500.
