Ima gettin me one an i will leave it blacked out until i see a cop.

It aint any worse than all the sandblasted unreadable plates I see everyday. My SIL has his plate sand blasted for the last 5 years. Never gets pulled over.

So living in Fresno and owning a mustang makes me participate in roll racing for entertainment? So when I drive my c8 z06 makes me participate in golf tournaments and wear new balance as well? What about when I drive my gt2 rs i shred the backroads and do cannon runs as well with people who do well in life. My location of residence and job career has nothing to do with my vehicles I drive. If you most know my entertainment is traveling with my family in places most people will never get to visit or experience

So one buys a blackout plate device to drive to a car event or car show enroute with their plate(s) exposed, but once at the event to display their vehicle, they black out their plates…. Do you black out your VIN too? What about other identifying characteristics of the car or even your person?

Let’s be real, a device as such is to avoid detection, period. Whether that detection is to blow tolls, blow lights, buying illegal XYZ in shady locations, doing other XYZ nefarious activities, or to “run” from XYZ Law Enforcement, that’s the only purpose of such a device. I don’t care if it’s on a “Z06” or a Hyundai, the device doesn’t serve the explained purpose for being used on a car when displayed “under a tent”…. LMFAO.

I don’t care what its used for - or why one needs/wants it - but if you’re going to post such a thread in any public forum or social media site, be prepared for the questions. Also, to respond with some skewed story that it’s being used for when you display your car under a tent - c’mon now.

I would use it when driving through Chicago. Last time I drove through there, I got a bill in the mail for a dozen tolls, and a $3 surcharge PER TOLL to pay online.

Well, you do have to pay tolls here in IL so…. The online surcharge is dumb and is typical IL.

I don’t run a front plate even though they’re required here. Cops don’t care unless you’re getting busted for something else. Then they’ll also include that.

But what I’m saying with the cameras is they also have his face. So, if they really wanted to, they could try to find him that way. Would they really do that over a $1.xx toll? I doubt it but one never knows here in the great state of IL

And look around. Most of these people have been on this forum for many years. You just joined and have 41 posts and 40 of them are telling the locals to "calm down".

So, if you’re towing it and assuming the event is off-road, why not just take the plates off for the event? That’s free you know.
