I bought a 5 liter jug of Gtechniq iron remover. It was the cheapest I could find at the time for a container that big. Got it around July 4 from the Rag Company with their Independence day discount... It works pretty well, but not as good as Iron X. I also have some Gyeon left, it is very effective. Extremely stinky, but works well. They don't mask the smell AT ALL...

For those curious, I did a deep dive on this. For the purposes of paint decon, you want the active ingredient in Gyeon or Iron X: ammonium thioglycolate. This combines TGA (thioglycolate acid) with ammonia. Other products on the market will use sodium thioglycolate. Gyeon has a higher concentration of this, resulting in it being stronger. The infamous smell we rip on comes from this blend of using ammonia.

From what I've read, Gyeon Redefined is slightly weaker and Iron X lemon is slightly stronger compared to their original variants. Redefined has a slightly different blend making it more effective on paint.

Armour Detail Supply Product Guide - Detailing Shed

From the moment I tried their wheel coating late last year, the Armour Detail Supply brand captured my attention. As I discovered more about the brand, I knew these were products I wanted to try. When Detailing Shed announced they would be the Australian distributor for ADS, I was excited to get my hands on the entire lineup. The coatings launched first earlier this year, followed a few months later by the maintenance line.

Going off the comments I had been reading about ADS in the US, I knew I wanted to try every product they make. During a detailing therapy session, I remember lining them all up, then started grabbing one after the other as I worked around the car. I'm at the point now where I can tell within 30 seconds if a product is good or not. Each ADS product instantly impressed!

What impressed me most of all was how consistently great the entire lineup is. For any given brand, they will have one or two truly great products with the rest being average at best. ASD on the other hand sit at the top tiers for each segment they play in.

Still, a few key products rise to the top. Pilot is my absolute favorite interior cleaner/detailer, Amplify I can't get enough of..............I have already re-ordered both! I love Tire+, it seems to have just the right amount of enhancement without sickly gloss. And Hero rinse-less wash is delightful to use, Ceramic Spray Sealant the easiest of it's type to apply.

Looking at ADS Ceramic, they seem to recommend the same application method as Griot's 3-in-1 or TW Hybrid Ceramic while CarPro suggests an extra buffing for Reload. Interesting.

I don't own any large quantity of SiO2 spray even though I always use some at the end of every maintenance wash. I assume Ceramic is similar to Reload in that it's strictly SiO2 and doesn't have anything else mixed in like the Griot's has carnauba?

Adding the SDS for their iron to my list, correct active ingredient but not as strong as Gyeon or IX. Price reflects this, at least in the US market so it's still a good value.

Edit: Wrote Amplify where I meant Ceramic once.

Watching the video, it has a similar wet application as Megs HCW, and also serves as a drying aid. I can't find any mention of its longevity. Watching the video on it, they mention "durability" multiple times but don't actually state it in the video, or publish it in the product description.

So, with that in mind, I would say 3-in-1 is a closer match to Carpro EliXir in having that blend of Si02 (from Reload) and carnauba wax (from ECH20). The closest Armour product would be Adapt.

Addressing Amplify vs Reload, Amplify offers up to 2-months durability, Reload offers up to 3-months. So yes, similar in concept. ADS Ceramic Spray Sealant can last up-6 months, so much more substantial.

Thinking that it makes sense what you mentioned about The House of Rags and the other companies. It doesnt make sense to go with other brands when you have a connection already with probably the best microfiber brand.

This actually helped a lot, thanks. I'll give Amplify a shot with my maintenance washes next year since it's just starting to cool down here. I'm not attached to any finishing spray yet. I am way happier with Reload 2.0 vs the original though. Kinda looks like ADS and CarPro use the same spray heads.

My next project is going to be a full detail on my mother's Mazda 3 so that will be.... interesting. That's why I was researching decon so much. I'll be hitting it with the iron remover-lift-descale combo.

I love mine, has a schrader valve so I pump up with my air compressor. That said, the pump doesn't last long. I rig up a battery powered bike pump and after pumped up, I turn on to keep pressurized as I go around the car. That helps tremendously. They have one that IK sells to do exactly the same thing for much more money...

Griots 3 in 1 in my experience lasts up to 6 months but for most people who have to drive their car in the elements etc and dont get to wash their car every week or multiple times a week, more like 3-4 months. For how easy it is to apply, it's a great product, used it all the time before i switched to ceramic coating.

I detailed the RAV4 this afternoon, and one thing caught my eye - water beading on the tyres.

Last detail, two months ago, I used Carpro Darkside for the first time.
I cannot get over how good the durability of Darkside is, and the hydrophobic properties.

Now, what is the recommended method to clean the applicator after x number of uses?
Darkside doesn't offer any clean up instructions, and I can imagine the fluid would build up over time on the bristles.

Clean the brush with water, turps, or something else?
