I am planning to have the car delivered to the Speedway. There I would do a couple of parade laps for celebratory sake. Once I speak with the GTD Team, I will reach out to my contacts at the Speedway to see if something like this is feasible.

I hope this thing isn't too far down the road.
By the time that car gets delivered I will be in Florida. 15 minutes from the Speedway. Would love to see those parade laps in person.

I don’t begrudge anyone that got the opportunity to buy one, but those guys will pound their channels with content for a few months, views will level off then they’ll shelve them until they can sell them.
I don't either. The youtube model seems like getting a new latest and greatest works well for likes/views/subscribers, but to have to make payments on a $400K car for the limited shelf life it offers (in terms of viable channel co tent that brings in the bacon, it doesn't make sense.

Then again, they will jist wind up flipping the car anyway, so nevermimd.

I'm already geared up to hear Austin cry about the consumables that the car will go through due to its weight. He dis it with the 500 and I don't think it will be any different this time around.

Have a look at his 500 videos just before he dumped it. He didn't have kind words to say about it. He's lucky he got an allocation, but then again, Ford is just feeding on his exposure and his channel.

I remember that video a little bit, I’ll go back and watch again though (as much as I dislike giving him views). I agree, Ford was probably willing to look past his GT500 comments due to the amount of subscribers he has. Although a fair amount of his videos have fairly low views.

Not to totally derail your thread here but David Patterson (That Dude In Blue) did an interesting video last week. He talked about legacy YouTubers and how the notification bell and a few other things have changed the landscape of that platform (also the home page change from Subscribed change to Recommended, so you’re subject to the algorithm a lot more now). It’s quite interesting. Makes it harder for some of these legacy folks to get the clicks and views they were once used to.

Anyway, sorry for the tangent on your GTD Journey thread. Back to more awesome GTD discussion!

I still can't figure out what stangmode is going to do with it.....
Probably blow it up for clicks.
And yes, I'm being serious.

I mentioned in the other thread that stangchode isn’t even sure he can afford it 🤦‍♂️. He’s also talking about modifying it if he goes the base route. Not even sure how modifiable these cars will even be but there’s zero chance a guy like him can make it better than Multimatic/Ford Performance. Saw that Austin got one too.

I don’t begrudge anyone that got the opportunity to buy one, but those guys will pound their channels with content for a few months, views will level off then they’ll shelve them until they can sell them. At least most of those YouTubers will. Guys/gals like Schmee will probably keep them for the long haul.
Austin will drive his on track though. Will he keep it long term? Perhaps not but it will definitely get used as intended. He's ok in my book. Very polite and friendly in person. I met him at Willow Springs once.

A bottle of Caymus to celebrate today's news.......

I'll save the Colgin for when the car is delivered.

People need to stop looking at YouTubers as "regular dudes with cars and I'm documenting my time with it" and view them more as

television show hosts of automotive content

Tv shows do the same thing. Latest and greatest, Generate some revenue and move on. Also these are business expenses just as they would be for a tv channel.

there will be so much content on the gtd when they arrive and it will be worth it for the the few that can build the revenue and write it all off.

congrats on the GTD!!

Austin will track it...I give that to him begrudgingly. I am surprised he got one though...he dumped Ford like a bad habit when the C8 hit. If he can get his hands on a ZR1, he will drop this GTD too. Look at how he flipped his Z06 in a hot minute (albeit he did put it through its paces).
