That doesn't seem to work for me. Is there a difference between changing the exhaust and changing the mode itself to track?
Hmm. Good question. I don’t think so but won’t hurt anything to try both. You should be able to hear the valve open. I’m not sure if the Shelby active exhaust functions any differently than the GT/Mach active exhaust in that regard, but through accessory mode is how we have to do it with the non-Shelby’s.

yea, it don’t work like that on Shelby’s…well, supposedly it will if you turn on accessory and switch the mode.

but I lived in an apartment complex for two years in downtown Sandy Eggo, and had to park in a downhill spot so I could put the car in neutral and roll out of my spot at 3am, so the neighbors couldn’t file a grievance 🥸

Exhaust valve controller to force valves open on start.

No matter what I do, my 2020 starts open, then quickly closes, then will either open again (sport) or close (normal). One of the only reasons to get a controller, in addition to 6th gear issue raised above too.

I don't know if the exhaust (noise) valves serve a purpose on the GT/Mach 1 etc., but they are actually part of the engine calibration on a GT350. The ECU cycles them on a cold start-up to make sure they're working and if not you get a CEL and the car won't go into certain drive modes. They're not about making noise, they're about making power.

If you want a quiet start on a GT350, push the clutch down, hold it for a few seconds until the noise from the valves cycling ends and then start the engine. If you just push the clutch down and hit start immediately, the valves will be open and you'll have a loud start.

Well, thinking more about this, that was the way they worked from the factory at introduction in 2016. Mine's like that. There was a software update later on that changed it in some way because the engine would throw a code if the valves were stuck from ice in the winter. Exactly how the GT350 works now, I'm not sure, but the valves open at higher throttle settings regardless of the starting behavior.

This is the way my 2020 GT350R works.
As you say, the 2016 Tech Pack I had before worked the same way.

Well - you could always pull the valve motors and wire the valves open all the time..... works great on the Mule.

I took the fuse out that controls the active exhaust. It's always open now and I get true cold starts. It costs nothing and takes like 30 seconds to do.

In my 2018 that give me a drive mode select error and locks the car into normal mode so your mileage may vary with this trick.

Hit start button with fob in hand but don’t start car (turns car on in accessory mode). Change exhaust setting to sport/track to open the valves. Start car (do NOT turn off accessory mode first or else the car will revert back to its default which is Normal exhaust mode). Enjoy lovely louder startup
I tried this exact same method and it does not work on my 2019 GT PP1. When I change the exhaust setting to sport and start the card (without turning OFF accessory mode), it instantly reverts back to NORMAL mode. So the startup does not happen in sport mode.

Agreed. This is exactly what doesn't work. It does work fine in the GT500, so they must have made an update with us in mind
