$300? Are these made of unobtanium?

Followed the thread, and even with a “preorder” @ $180 was steep. I mean, what is the actual real difference between those and the stock toggle function? I don’t care about the physical appearance being similar to the Ford GT switches… but exactly what is the buyer getting out of these that the stock FUNCTION is so underperforming??

Also curious, did OP get a freebie set out of the hoopla created surrounding the total push to prod for these?

This is not necessarily about function, but about beauty and style and feeling. Many of us are prepared to pay for cosmetic improvements. I know I am - and I have.
We must take into account not just the cost of the materials, but the copious amount of R&D that must have gone into them, as well as the fact that they are going to sell in low quantities. All things considered, I'm amazed that they can offer them at such a low price point. Just imagine how much they would cost if they were sold by Ford as an optional extra. They would probably be twice as much, at best.
My experience with 5Spurs has been great. Kevin is a pleasure to deal with, and the quality of his products is second to none. There must be a reason why he can't answer questions or update his website with proper pictures right now. I'm sure he will as soon as he can.

OP was the first to place an order and paid the same price as everyone else. It's not in my nature to demand free stuff from companies.

The Internet phenomenon of hiding behind aliases and insulting others is nothing new. It is apparently the only place where the keyboard warriors can exercise a little power in their imagination.

If you walk past a shop window and you don't like something, do you go into the store and bitch about the product? First it was the design, which by the way is almost the same as the initial photo I've posted a year ago. So no surprises there. Then the photos not beeing real, now the price. How can there be photos or an installation video of a product if it is not yet on the market. Even if everything were to fit, some would say that the position of the moon is not ideal at the moment.

I understand that some where holding off because they want to see the real thing but they don't get upset about the fact that there aren't any real photos yet.

Again please show us how you can do it better or move on and don't waste time and leave those who are interested and enjoy it alone.

I was excited to see this as well, but a few of these points are pretty silly and ridiculous.

If someone is looking forward to a product that is advertised for how long? a year? and then walk into a store and it doesn't look like expected/advertised, is more expensive, etc etc..then i absolutely think they would "bitch about it" in the store. That's common sense. You are comparing apples to oranges with a cherry picked scenario that doesn't line up with this scenario. You (and the company?) advertised a product that does not look like the original photo presented. Similar, yes, but some details are different and expectations versus reality is a different topic. People have every right to not like the finished product and to ask questions before purchasing it. The alternative is people ordering the product and being displeased with it when it arrives and ultimately returning it.

As far as wanting to see photos of the product before purchase, I think that is also a very reasonable request. I understand the product isn't "on the market" yet (which it technically is if it's advertised for sell on their page with a price), but I would think "prototypes" or test concepts would be created and installed before the beginning of placing it on the webpage and selling them? How does anyone know how the end product will look or perform if the company doesn't seem to know so themselves due to lack of installing them on the car? If they WERE installed on the car, then there should be pictures taken that can be uploaded to the advertisement on their webpage. Maybe I'm incorrect in this, but I would absolutely expect a company to make a product and have actual photos of it installed before expecting to sell it to buyers. At the very least they shouldn't be surprised when the question arises.

This isn't about being able to do it better. I'm not sure if you are aware but the individuals that are interested in this product within this thread are the CONSUMER. We wanted to have details on the product before purchasing it, that's pretty normal. Expecting or calling out a consumer to make something better just because they want to see if the product lined up with their expectations based off of advertisements is silly.

Increasing the price from ~$170 to $299 within a week seems wild too, especially based on the rest of this information, but I digress.

Gauging interest for those of us who prefer a single unit in the same finish, made completely out of aluminum and a superior design.
Also, these were advertised as a single unit..were they not? (both in this post AND the original post of the switches from the Ford GT). The photoshopped image on their webpage doesn't appear to be a single unit. Again, maybe I'm wrong, but that is a reason to ask for installed photos.

You’re obviously emotionally invested in this project as you spent some time promoting it. However, that doesn’t give you carte blanche to insult people who don’t like it. You don’t have to agree with others opinions but there’s no need to belittle people for not holding the same opinions of you.
While you claim to have no stake in this product you act like it’s yours and you did all the work. Calm down Francis….if people don’t like it or the price it shouldn’t be any skin off your back or money out of your bank since you didn’t do any of the real work.

Sorry guys but I don’t get it either. $300 for nothing imho. I have the armrest and it’s great, but it has a purpose as well as just looking good.

@Adamone92

Who said you have to like them? You said yourself you don't like it. Was I upset about that, or did I comment? It's about in what way and for what flimsy reasons, some are leaving negativ comments and spamming my PM just to badmouth a product.

If you as a CONSUMER like a product, get it if you want. If not, good too. Nobody is forced to do anything. But if someone acts as a manufacturer, then I ask them to do better.

Also don't understand why those who didn't like the product are upset about $299 when they didn't want it for $179 (the no real photo, no video, no marketing community pre-order price)

Another one, correct, I don't do any of the real work. I've just invested countless hours via phone, email and text for over a year to bring this project to life, without asking anything for it.

Don’t go radio silent after there’s initial interest. And then not answer questions. I get that it’s a pre order. But it’s a hard sell with vague photos and descriptions. People usually don’t buy on, “Trust me bro”.

Are these going to be a thing or not now?

Silent when? Trust me bro? I reffered to a reputable manufacturer. Aren't you the one who asked for a free set just to make photos?

They are probably going to be available for $299 with photos of the actual product.

Of course you don’t understand it, you have bias towards the product due to your involvement. Just like most people wouldn’t buy a house based off a rendering or any other consumer product you can’t expect people to fully buy into this. It’s even more concerning when the manufacturer can’t take the time to post about his own product on his vendor page or anywhere else. You’re not doing any favors for him or yourself by berating people publicly. If you have issues with people PM’ing you then take it up via PM or ignore them.

Francis again, for the last time I didn't force anyone to buy it, understand if someone doesn't and don't mind if they won't. But what I can expect is that you don't create a pile in my thread.

And no one said you are forcing anyone. You’re being overly defensive. There are other ways to police a thread without belittling people publicly. Take it up with a moderator. What you’re doing isn’t helping the situation, only turning people away from possible sales.

They must have installed these in something to verify they worked correctly, right?
