I'm still confused. SO, the base V6 does have the modes, only it doesn't have the toggle switches to turn them on, you have to tap dance and fart?
They just lumped the traction modes into one button. So instead of cycling through modes via a toggle, you either press it once to disable TCS, twice to dumb down STM, or hold it down to disable everything.

Someone [with the base dash that does not have toggles with a dedicated mode selector] has to do some real world testing to see if the [traction] modes affect throttle mapping and transmission settings though.

The effects would be noticeable, if someone is willing to chime in.

*Edited for clarity.

all testing done...

1. normal mode... good in daily driving pretty much balanced.

2. Sport+: car growls.. higher rev limits and u have more control over at what time u wanna shift.

3. Track mode.: Completely in ur control.. traction control off (advanced is still on) and throttle more or less same as sports mode.

4. SNow/Wet mode.... This mode suppresses all power of ur car...Less acceleration.. more focus on control and traction is like you can feel it that car is taking control of situation

It looks like you have the premium model with toggles though, right? To be clear, I was asking if someone with a base model had the chance to see if adjust the various traction control settings (accompanied with a "mode" difference in the gauge cluster) actually affected throttle mapping and, if applicable, auto shift behavior. Thanks for checking though!

I went into RTFM mode and found this:
I don't like this one bit. The note says don't use sport mode on public roadways without giving a reason. NOW, I will have to.

When changing driving modes, do they have memory, or do they reset when the car is off?

Laws mandate that they reset when the car is turned off.

Any chance of having a hack to stop it from resetting? I really want it to stay in sport mode.

There was a setting saver device that I had to splice into my Subaru to perform the function of saving my last driving mode, however they stopped making them. I think it was actually called Settingsaver.

On another note, I wish the switches toggled both ways. I hate when I want to go from Sport+ back to normal and I have to toggle through Track and Winter to get there.

Not to be totally off subject, but I've seen many online Dealers advertising "Premium" on the EB models, when in fact the window sticker is not showing the Premium upgrade package. Gotta watch it out there when Dealer shopping, because some folks are not aware of the differences between Base and Premium (and toggles vs no toggles) and the Dealer is just out to make a buck...

I have a manual EB Premium and the different modes definately change the throttle mapping.

Going from Normal to Sport+ you actually feel a momentary change in the throttle and it will also change the steering to sport if it's not already in sport. In sport+ there is much more change in the actual throttle for a giving amount of change in the pedal (ie; more responsive). You can spin the tires a lot more before the traction control kicks in and the stability control let's the fish tail more.

Going from Normal to Track is the same but you have even less intervention from traction control and stability control. I don't notice any difference in throttle response between sport and track.

Going from Normal to Snow/Wet makes a very dramatic change in throttle response you have to move the pedal alot for the engine to respond. On slippery surfaces the traction control and stability control will only allow gas to be fed to the engine if the available traction allows the car to accelerate. You can almost floor it and it will just slowly pull away. With the winter we have been having I have used this mode the most.

The driving modes reset back to normal each time you start the car. But the steering feel will stay in what ever mode you set it in on restart.

Fascinating. I wonder if your settings go to the insurance company or the police if you get into an accident.

Well currently there are laws that prevent the black box data that is stored by the cars computer from being used against you.
