So when I went to put my car into accessory mode today, the car fully started without my foot being applied onto the brake pedal. I let it idle for a little then turned the car back off. I noticed after I turned the car off that the green light on the “start/stop” ignition button was fully lit green which is only supposed to be like that when the car is on but the car was off. I got out the car for a brief moment and noticed my brake lights were still on (even the third brake light). Does anyone happen to know what is causing this?

Brake pedal switch might be broken or shorted internally. Get under the dash and look at it. If nothing looks out of the ordinary then it's probably just failed.
Okay thanks I’ll see if anything looks odd

Just found this under my floor mat.

I think that's part of the plunger assembly in the brake switch that actuates when you push the pedal. I believe its that big blue thing above the pedal that you'll need to replace.

Yes that’s it. I tried to find a replacement online that I could go get in person but I couldn’t find any. I’m going to have to order it on Amazon and wait a couple days sadly
If you use the search function on the forum, you'll find workarounds like taping a nickel or using magnets in place of that bumper pad, and pads other than the Ford ones that'll work.

That’s a recall issue. Car will drive funny like it thinks you are trying to stop while accelerating. It will keep throttling back on you. It was a bitch getting mine 15 miles to the dealership.

Thank you all! I ended up getting it fixed by getting one of those plastic pieces from a Toyota dealership. I appreciate it!

Expect letters in the mail about a safety recall or get bugged by service writers if you go to a dealership for anything. They still hound me about the back up camera. I fixed it myself by simply cutting the too tight tiewraps and replacing them but fitted loosely.
Oh, and the door handle recall. They cannot guarantee they won’t scratch up my tint so they’re not touching it.
