Do you plan on changing the filter at 10k as well or earlier? With full synthetic it will be 10k. If I went the synthetic blend route it would be 5k.
Also, did you go with 5W-20 or 5W-30?

I agree with everything you said above!! These dealer oil changes are a great deal and very convenient.Ford dealerships usually save you money if you bought the car from them. My dealer charges me $35 after tax for my Focus (synthetic blend), which is actually cheaper than buying the oil + filter when factor in every 5th is free (average price is below $30).
I used to have a lot of joy with changing my escort's oil, but since my FoST has an undercarriage protector, it's just too much hassle - especially when it's more expensive.
The filter will be changed at 10k miles and not before.Do you plan on changing the filter at 10k as well or earlier?

I'd rather use olive oil, Mobil one is one of the lowest quality synthetics on the market. It went downhill after 07 or so.Your doing it wrong lol.
Mobile one is $23 for 5 qts, and the OEM Motorcraft filter is $5. Both at the local Walmart
I am thinking about going the 10k route as well except change the filter at 5k, top off and use 5W-30.I agree with everything you said above!! These dealer oil changes are a great deal and very convenient.

I went with 5w-20 Full Synthetic.
Thats not the argument. The OP mentioned Mobile One being $10/qt, that's why I mentioned it.I'd rather use olive oil, Mobil one is one of the lowest quality synthetics on the market. It went downhill after 07 or so.
There's a reason why it's so cheap....
I paid about $10/qt for Mobil1 extended performance for my other cars. Filter was $14. Bought it at Advanced Auto.Thats not the argument. The OP mentioned Mobile One being $10/qt, that's why I mentioned it.
Just about all the Synthetics are under $30 for a 5qt jug at wally world
Cheap? Lol. Mobil1 costs more than motorcraft full synthetic and is one of the best oils out there.... been using it in the truck ever since I got it 122k miles and kickingI'd rather use olive oil, Mobil one is one of the lowest quality synthetics on the market. It went downhill after 07 or so.

Never said Motorcraft was good either.Cheap? Lol. Mobil1 costs more than motorcraft full synthetic and is one of the best oils out there.... been using it in the truck ever since I got it 122k miles and kicking
Have you? If so, post the results because you haven't backed up any of your claims. I've used Mobil 1 in all of my cars since 2006 when I bought my first so I'm curious about it.Have you tested it? Have you seen the 4 ball wear results?
Man, I am a troublemaker:cheers:Todd, you started another oil argument LOL. at the 4 ball test. I would caution people from over changing the oil filter. Change it when you change the oil, no point in introducing anymore debris into your engine than needed. Plus you'll do more damage with all the dry starts from empty oil filters...unless your car with a pre-lube system, I know mine didn't. I have around 800+ Smiles on mine and I may pull a sample soon, which will show nothing I presume but I'm curious.
I'd be happy too!Have you? If so, post the results because you haven't backed up any of your claims. I've used Mobil 1 in all of my cars since 2006 when I bought my first so I'm curious about it.
