Hey folks - I have always been one to change oil in all my cars over the years. With my new GT, I am heading down a different path.

I went and got my oil changed with my local Ford dealership quick lube. I had about 1000 miles on my car and was time for its first change. I got the full Motorcraft synthetic oil change for $88 bucks which includes 8 quarts of oil, filter and tax. I had always used Mobil 1 in the past and it is about $10 a quart plus $13 for the filter. Well worth the money and mess and hassle I save.

Now I know longer have to hassle with this, no disposing of oil after the fact, gain back 45 minutes of my time and let Ford handle this :ford::cheers:.

Figured I would share my path I am taking on my new car vs. my previous 8 Mustangs.

Isn't the first oil change supposed to be after the first 5k miles?

Not for me. All of my brand new cars get their first oil change right around 1000 miles.

Nice... I just put in zmax in mine so going to wait till the scheduled one then switch over to full synthetic, either motorcraft or mobile one

Excellent! I have never used zmax. Have you used it in the past? Good results?

Some people get extra piece of mind from an early first change. I personally think it's unnecessary given contemporary manufacturing techniques and oil technology.

Understandable... I always did them by the manual most of the time.... Audi was when the service minder went off for oil change

Ford dealerships usually save you money if you bought the car from them. My dealer charges me $35 after tax for my Focus (synthetic blend), which is actually cheaper than buying the oil + filter when factor in every 5th is free (average price is below $30).

I used to have a lot of joy with changing my escort's oil, but since my FoST has an undercarriage protector, it's just too much hassle - especially when it's more expensive.
