I DD an A-spec Integra. For what it is it’s a great little car, none of the Camry/Accord/Altima range offers a manual anymore. It’s not fast, not winning races, but 45 highway mpg on my commute is well worth leaving the Mustang in the garage most days.

Just seems a weird comparison here by the editors. The Type S is pushing away buyers with $10k markups and a huge mpg penalty over the base model.
Not sure what your car is exactly, but a Google search shows prices around $35,000 for 2024 A-Spec Integras. If fuel economy is your reason for driving it, you are certainly not saving $35,000 on gas. Maybe in 10-15 years you might, but other costs will still mean that in the end you would have been better off financially just driving the Mustang.

I respect your decision to drive what you want to drive, though. Heck I drove a Fiesta ST a couple winters. In some ways I liked it more than the Z06 I also owned at the time. There were some days that I could have driven the Z06, but chose to drive the FiST.

IDK, the E46 is pretty good too

I know, that is the classically agreed upon best 3 series but I consider it a bit portly and the beginning of the decline. Much improved compared to today's style by far though with that bucky the beaver M4.

These looked great! But I still had major beef with the fart sounding exhaust. For sure Exhaust sound is not BMW strong suit, they got to learn from AMG(V8) 😑
Right, but no 6 cylinder sounds great. But hey, better than most 4 cylinders.

The Integra in the article is a Type S, so 52K. No way I would pay that much.

I especially like the 4 door version. I think they only made the E46 in 4 door in Europe, but people have done conversions on the 330i/Ci to make them M3's

V6 yuck but a nice straight 6 sounds cool. I think the nice even chug on some old blue flame packin' hot rods is cool anyway.

Ever heard a VR6 in a Golf or Corrado? That may be the exception to the "6 cylinders sound like shyte" rule

Some people say Porsche 6 bangers sound good. I think they are ok when rev'ed beyond 7,500 rpm - but almost any engine sounds good at really high rpm.

I don't know if I'd say they sound cool but they're so much fun I don't think I've ever cared!

There is always exceptions BUT almost all 6 bangers sound like someone is blowing through a piece of paper.

Ford GT is a V6 sounds tits though, I am amazed about that. Some Porsches too. Of course probably because these are high horsepower Turbo cars, tends to muffle the exhaust and create different type of fun noises.

With those e46 BMWs you want to mess with the exhaust as little as possible. Maybe change the intake for more induction noise. Maybe a very, very mild set of rear mufflers. My cousin had one when i was a teenager and it sounded glorious with just an intake.

But finding an unmolested one must be a fool's errand unless you want to spend 60k.

Probably doesn't drive like anything special these days but back then it was special. And for me it's still one of the best looking "regular" cars out there.

how about the Civic type R.. practically the same car for around $47K..
Slap some ohlins on a 27k EcoBoost and do the other fixes and I think you'd give the tarted up civic a run for its money.

100% yes! I generally don’t like the v6 sounds but whatever Ford/Multimatic did to that 3.5L Eco it sounds fantastic. It’s stupid loud too for a turbo car.

No thanks on their winner...FWD is a hard no from me. If it was AWD, it may be a different story. And why not include some other sub-100k sports cars? Vette, camaro...they have 2024 models under 100k right...ZL1 anybody? (not sure on dodge...23 may be the last).
