TrackHawks are no joke, and for the 100k pricetag they command for a slightly used one, they shouldn't be.
As far as I know it's pretty much the same drivetrain, just shoved under a slightly different looking vehicle.
I'm sure the GT is definitely upset though.
Me too. I owned a variety of Mopar performance cars over the years starting with a Max Wedge Dodge in the mid 60s and ending with a 94 Viper. They were all fast and fun to drive, but had a variety of reliability issues. Most had rust problems as well. The SRT/10 Pickup and 2004 - 2006 Viper were very tempting, but between past experience and horror stories about the V10, I just couldn't do it.LOL ok well having owned and loved Chrysler products (my viper), I pretty sure the TrailHawk is the one that may not crank in a year or two.
Haha right? Mine has been surprisingly reliable! The poor Chrysler quality is there for sure (think panel gaps and crappy interior plastics, rusty bolts) but I went into the purchase knowing it would be that way and the main purpose was a fun driving toy different than my mustangs. Definitely need to understand what you are getting yourself into when buying a specialty vehicle. Even though I have had a pretty great experience, unless you have extra padding in your budget for potential issues I would not recommend the viper (or honestly any regular Chrysler.. Fiat.. Stellantis product) to others for similar reasons you pointed out. I have always wished I could get a mustang with Toyota type of quality and reliability LOL. I'm just a person that thinks folks should receive a quality product especially when the newer vehicles cost so much.
Call me a fool maybe. It saddens me when I hear about how much someone paid and then the vehicle doesn't live up to that persons standards due to issues. Perspective plays a key here. Luckily, if you lease a vehicle at least you can give the potential POS back to the dealer and make it their problem after a few years of getting your enjoyment out of it!
My late uncle had a 2005 ram quad cab with the daytona package on it with the big ass wing in that burnt metallic orange color. My aunt has it now and it's slowly rotting away in the garage. I thought about cloning it to look like an SRT/10 but drop in a hellcat crate engine. I just need to gather up the funds to buy from her while it can be saved, it's not bad yet but a few more years of sitting and the tin worm will make it too far gone.
There are a couple Ram Daytona’s around here. The burnt orange and a yellow one. They sound really good but theyre both rusting out pretty badly. I never understood the big wang gang on a truck but to each their own.
LOL I seem have the opposite issue. I often take our track ready cars like my viper or my spouse's ferrari to Costco and pick up groceries. I don't need the track... but I do need that $5 rotisserie chicken quickly!!
Objectively, there is a number of cars that are designed to do groceries and kids, and at the same time perform better than a GT mustang on track. Well, not the trackhawk of course
