I agree with you 100%. Every Shelby is just a Mustang too. I can make a GT that will crush a Shelby. It’s all the same to me.
Crush away but it will still be a GT and the Shelby will still be a Shelby. No comparison.

Don’t bother arguing with him, he’s been all over this forum making an ass of himself. The ignore feature really is a nice effect on these forums 🤣
Something about that handle, or parts thereof…

That's in my neck of the woods too. So here we have a used DH for 100K. I think that for a bit more, you could get a brand new BMW M3 Competition CS with quarter-miles times in the 10s.
You could get a gently used s550 GT500 and have 20 grand to mod it for 100k lol, literal 900-1k wheel hp Shelby or a Dork horse D:

Yesterday I called a local dealer to find out about a new Dark Horse that's in its way to the dealership. They said they wanted a non-refundable $5k deposit plus a "market adjustment" of $20k. The price of the Dark Horse would have been $73k and change, but with the adjustment I would have ended up paying over $93k for the car. I thought that was ridiculous. For that money, I could get a Corvette or a Camaro ZL1 1LE or a GT500 (if I could find one).

What do you guys think about these market adjustments for the Dark Horse. Would anyone be willing to pay the 20k markup?
Maybe during COVID, but the market has moved on now. No way.

I’m just curious. But what exactly makes a Shelby?

I’m a practical man. I care for purpose and results. Which is why I don’t buy Balenciaga, Gucci or any other “luxury” brand. If a “regular” GT can outperform a “Shelby” for less money, I’ll take the GT. At the end of the day, a Shelby is “just” a Mustang anyway.

Again, I’m just a practical man.

Define “out perform”? So many people think slapping a whipple on a GT makes it better than a Shelby. This is far from the truth. 7 speed DCT, track suspension tuning, chassis stiffening, better cooling, wider stance, composite panels, CF driveshaft, better brakes….this list goes on.
Slap a whipple on a GT and put it on a racetrack against a GT500 and it’ll have its ass handed to it. It takes so much more than a 200hp bump to “out perform” a GT500. But as I said, too many fools think dyno numbers and 1/4 mile times are the be all, end all of “performance”.
A Porsche GT3 is still “just a 911” 😉

This or for us 350 folks- the sound of the VooDoo- nothing you can do to a GT will give the Coyote the same characteristics as the VooDoo - its the way the whole package comes together

Dont get me wrong- I love the Coyote also Had a PP1 A10 car and specifically looked for an F150 with a Coyote in it ...love the way my truck sounds with the exhaust .....

I have no doubt you could throw the Steeda catalog + add Blower on E85 tune + some cooling mods and create a faster Mustang- could do the same with a fox body as well for probably even less ....

I mean the 911 Turbo S runs low 10s in the 1/4 vs. the GT3 runs high 10s - yet most people want the GT3 - its not always about the fastest times - sometimes its about how the car feels

I think even if that money was pocket change for me, I wouldn’t pay $20K over MSRP. But there are many who would, and that’s what drives it.

That's why you just order one and make a deal with the dealer to pay MSRP nothing more 🤷‍♂️

That's what I did when I bought the Mach 1, they had 15K markup on the 21-22 HP Mach 1s.

OR you could just shop around and eventually you will find a dealer that will offer at MSRP.

Why I have the 2023 C8 Vette and it has no Mustang rattles.
