I've talked to a few older gents that own the first few iterations (64 / 65). They hate every model that's come out since then...

You know you are right--we got a Mustang club up here (Golden Horseshoe) that doesn't allow anything older than 1973 in the club. I've talked to them at shows and as long as the conversation is about their car they seem nice. I don't get it--I love every year Mustang (even IIs), Mustangs are my favourite car but I also like a lot of other cars--I always say I'm not an automotive bigot. Half my family are Mopar nuts and back in the middle 80's Mopar guys had a chip because GM's and Fords got all the magazine attention--now Hemi Mopars get all the attention at a show and the Mopar guys can be insufferable to hang around. I don't get into urinary Olympics with other people of something as dumb as what brand is better.

and the weight conversation again. the mustang is still the lightest car in the Pony car class. it is not going to ever be lighter than the sports car class or the super car class. it is not where ford is competing.

These are the cars we compete against.

2015 Camero 1SS - 3,908 Pounds 6.2L V8 426-hp
2015 Challenger R/T Shaker - 4,082 Pounds 5.7 L V8 375 HP
2015 Mustang GT – 3705 Pounds. 5.0 L V8 435 HP

not if you ask Ford. If you ask them, they will talk about the german competitors; BMW, Porsche, etc...

We pay 9% tax in California. Oregon has no sales tax. Maybe I should move?

If law makers were smart they would lower the tax rate 50%. I'll bet they would see more sales and make more in tax in the long run.

therein lies the problem.

and then someone will try that and the media will call it a tax break for the rich. and then it will be called a big boost for big oil.

high tax only survives for as long as the taxing agency (feds/State) can keep the taxed (we the people) angry at each other, jealous of each other, and fighting each other.

It works every time it's been done.

If the auto purchase is included for 2014... you can expect a pretty good tax return again... What sucks is I am on track to go into the next tax bracket and the taxes are already killing me

The trick is to move to Washington (no income tax), but live near enough to Oregon (no sales tax) to pop over whenever you need to buy a refrigerator or something.

But you didn't hear that from me!
