Um…
Nobody is arguing that a biological male can change their sex.

They are arguing that they can change their GENDER. I understand that you think the two are synonymous but clearly they aren’t, as demonstrated by the tribes I cited earlier.

Science doesn’t use your simplistic approach to determining sex. In fact, there are multiple ways to determine sex and sometimes people tick boxes in opposing columns because nature has a habit of producing a bit of variety and our ability to classify those expressions of variety are somewhat limited.

What sex is someone born with 4 sex chromosomes and ambiguous genitalia?
Which gender should they assume?

A true hermaphrodite will have components of borh male and female sex organs. Which box are you going to put them in? Are they make or female? Man or woman?

My personal opinion? I think it’s all a bit strange and I don’t pretend to fully understand it but my opinions don’t change basic biological facts.

@Gregs24
Your experience in this area might be insightful.
Again you can’t change your gender.

A man can be gay or act effeminate just as a woman can be gay or act masculine. Just because you want to say you’re a woman by chopping off your penis doesn’t make you a woman and just because surgically you remove your breast and want to attach a latex member doesn’t make you a man. I don’t care how many ways you present it or slice it to me gender is assigned to sex. If there was a book by scientist presenting to you that I was your dad would you call me dad?

I won’t play that game with no one not even my own kids.

I guess I’m one of those homophobic guys because I won’t date or get married to a man who puts on a wig and make up saying he’s a woman. If you’re willing to do that then so be it. I won’t judge for it. 👍🏼

And those who are born with multiple genitalia that’s a genetic mutation that happens in only 1.7% of the worlds population. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I think we need to go back to basics here so that we might better understand one another.

I think you’ll agree with me that at some point back in time, the word “gay” implied “happy”. Nowadays it usually means homosexual.
You’ll also agree that the same goes for queer, once meaning “odd” and now often denoting a persons sexual orientation instead.
At this point you should recognise that the meaning of words is fluid. Whether that’s a good thing or not is beside the point. It’s an objective fact.

The people we’re talking about here aren’t usually trying to convince you that they’ve changed their sex. They are simply trying to communicate that they have a certain external appearance/mannerism/preferences or whatever the case may be. You THINK that they’re trying to communicate that, in the same way that someone all those years ago upon hearing someone describe themself as gay, might think that they meant happy. What happened was that the usage of the word changed and they failed to recognise it, which lead to a basic misunderstanding.

I guess I’m one of those homophobic guys because I won’t date or get married to a man who puts on a wig and make up saying he’s a woman. If you’re willing to do that then so be it. I won’t judge for it.
I‘ve never suggested that you are a homophobe.

Not wanting to date or marry someone who doesn’t fit your selection criteria doesn’t make you a homophobe.
I‘m not interested in dating/marrying them either because I like BIOLOGICAL women. That’s my preference. It‘s also my preference that we treat people with basic dignity until such time that they reveal that they aren’t worth it. If that means using whatever (sometimes ridiculous) pronouns they’ve decided to adopt, so be it.
Whatever makes them comfortable.

The other option is to ignore their preferences and just act like an ignorant dickhead, at which point I wouldn’t be surprised if they were to treat you like one. I’d think that would be pretty fair, in the same way that if I told you my name was Trevor but you decided to deliberately keep calling me Michael, I might eventually retaliate.

1st paragraph agree 100% words have over time changed. Fluid as you said is correct.

Paragraph 2-3: we are also in agreement.

On paragraph 4: while we also agree there are people out there actually pushing this agenda. That if as a biological male you don’t want to date a man who wants to identify as a woman that you’re a homophobe. That’s horse hockey

Paragraph 5-6: I’ve stopped addressing them as anything. If I have to deal with someone in that situation. I’m very cordial, respectful, say please and thank you. Tell them to have a great day and walk away. I won’t even ask them for their name. That’s if I need to interact with someone who’s in that community. Just to stave off any issues.

Now the only time I’ve called someone by any other name, was when I was single, used to drink heavily and many times it was a females I was in the middle of a rump and it didn’t end well either 😂👊🏼

I’m glad we got there.
Look, I’d prefer if the usage didn’t change. It would certainly be simpler, no argument from me.

Green are cargo ships, red are tankers. Cargo ships average 63,000 gallons of diesel usage a day. One can produce the same amount of pollution as 50 million cars. But sure, your EV will save the planet 😂 Strip mines are obviously eco-friendly.

What's funny about that though is that in terms of efficiency, cargo ships and tankers are WAY above everything else, especially when you factor in how much tonnage they haul for the fuel they use. The main issue is the persistent use of low quality fuels, like bunker fuel. Most western flagged ships are clean, but that's about it. Shipping is way less of an overall percentage of pollution in the grand scheme of things than you'd think.

Transportation of people and materials is always going to be an energy sink, no matter how you do it. There are certainly ways we can improve and be less wasteful though.

Each gallon of gas is equivalent to 33.7 kilowatt hours of electricity.
How many gallons of gas are burned each day? How many are burned in an average size city per day?

This is an astronomical amount of power.
California uses 1,964,000 mega watts of power each day in gas and diesel

Please stop I’m not going to argue with you or any other idiot about what is a man or woman. If you’re born with a set of balls you’re a man if you’re born with a vagina you’re a woman. No matter how much make up or surgeries anyone gets or how much they want the world to accep it that won’t change anything.

Now everyone know why aliens don’t visit earth.
So what happens if you are born with both? or neither? What happens if you are a man that finds other men attractive but not women? Are all these people that don't exist in your mind - because I can assure you they do.

Gender and sex are NOT the same thing - funny that as they are two different words!

Yes back on topic - the person who raised this seems to have melted away when presented with evidence to counter his opinion. He is too wrapped up posting other jibes.

California uses 1,964,000 mega watts of power each day in gas and diesel. California uses 48 million gallons of gas and 10 million gallons of diesel each day.

Wind turbines used on land-based wind farms typically generate from 1 to nearly 5 megawatts. So lets say 3 per day. That is 664,667 windmills plus some unknown number of batteries to store power for night and days with no wind.

If I did the math correctly it will take 9,820 square miles of solar panels to create 1,964,000 mega watts of power. Figuring 200 mega watts per square mile. Again no idea how many batteries to store energy for night time and days with no sun.

This just to cover California replacing gas and diesel daily transportation needs with electricity.

Does anyone really see BEV's as the answer?

I still say the earth warming 2 or 3 degrees C is overall a good thing for Humans, plants and other animals.

So perhaps you would like to give us your definition of the words 'sex' and 'gender' then?

I wonder if they will match the generally understood ones?
Sex is your genetic makeup, male/female, and gender is either male/female/ or some identity crisis.

I already answered this. Only 1.7% of the worlds population is born that way. That’s something you should know if you’re going to debate it. And in those cases the predominant hormone dictates what sex you are. So if you have higher testosterone. Numbers then estrogen then you’re a male and if vice versa then you’re a female. See it all boils down to genetics. Open and read a book that might help.

That is YOUR opinion NOT fact (and not correct either)

Your phraseology is insulting and childish - but then you know that because you intended to provoke
