There is a reason they don't allow lithium ion batteries on commercial (passenger) flights.
Hello; Would not be good to have toxic fumes and a hard to extinguish fire at 35,000 feet. Wonder if Burkey will call this "frivolous"?

CO2 has gone up from .03% to .04% of the atmosphere over the last couple decades. Below .02% plant life starts dying off.

There you go putting up scientific facts like there’s only two genders. You better stop that or some of these folks will put you on ignore. 🤔

Green are cargo ships, red are tankers. Cargo ships average 63,000 gallons of diesel usage a day. One can produce the same amount of pollution as 50 million cars. But sure, your EV will save the planet 😂 Strip mines are obviously eco-friendly.

Along with math, the correct use of the English language and let’s not forget letter grades. I wonder if breathing air through your nose not your mouth will become racist? I guess time will tell.

LMFAO.
That’s right, they make you send your phone and laptop to your destination by mail.

Yes, a 33% increase in just a few decades. Hence they’re concerned about a “doubling” of CO2.

The FAA instituted regulations controlling the transport of Li-ion batteries as commercial cargo after an onboard fire caused the fatal crash of UPS Airlines Flight 6 in 2010.

That’s not the same as “There is a reason they don't allow lithium ion batteries on commercial (passenger) flights.”

It also ignores that the batteries can be shipped via cargo planes…..

I wonder what the principal difference might be?

I don’t know that I’d call that frivolous.
The FAA seems to think that the risk can be mitigated though.

“Spare (uninstalled) lithium metal batteries and lithium ion batteries, electronic cigarettes and vaping devices are prohibited in checked baggage. They must be carried with the passenger in carry-on baggage. Smoke and fire incidents involving lithium batteries can be mitigated by the cabin crew and passengers inside the aircraft cabin.”

But hey, never let the facts get in the way of a good story.
I wonder how they might deal with this “existential threat“ on cargo planes?

Lithium metal and lithium ion cells and batteries shipped by themselves (meaning alone and not installed in a device or packed with the device they will power) are forbidden to be shipped as cargo on a passenger aircraft. In addition, lithium-ion cells and batteries shipped by themselves must be shipped at a state of charge not exceeding 30% of their rated capacity.

Lithium batteries are dangerous goods, and all of the regulatory requirements must be complied with, as set out in the Lithium Battery Shipping Regulations. In the United States, failure to comply with these regulations can result in a civil penalty of up to $27,000 per offence (LBSR 1.3).

Hello; Wonder what mitigated by the crew and passengers might mean? Might be something worth knowing.
