Quick question about IAT's and heatsoak

I'm pretty certain that's not factually correct.

Perhaps under certain specific circumstances it can, but usually it doesn't. It robs everything to do with power and economy.

Cooler air is denser and carries more oxygen.

Look deeper. Air/fuel combustion is more efficient at higher temperatures. Only issue is finding the line between max efficiency and pre-ignition under load. This is how hyper milers gain maximum MPG. By installing a HAI… (hot air intake)

With WOT yes. 100% more power. Efficiency for MPG and max power all out, are 2 completely different ballgames.

The MAF is NOT a temp sensor,

While true Ford incorporates a temp sensor in the maf sensor housing.

Back in the 70's early 80's Smokey built a hot air cycle engine. He put it in a Horizon or some such thing. Claimed the 4 banger put out over 300 HP and got 35 or 40 MPG.

Yep. There’s 2 thermostatic voltage sensors in the MAF sensor since 1996.

Smokey Yunick was a grifter. IIRC, he was one of the first people to acid dip a NASCAR body/chassis. He made outrageous claims about all sorts of things that ended up not being true.

His "hot vapor" engine is a great example; if it actually worked the way he advertised it to, it would have been a great commercial success, and we would all be driving them. The article that is linked to explains it's failings in perfect detail. It just didn't work.

Yep, did all kinds of crazy things, like have the engine turn the opposite way so the outside tire would be planted in the open diff era.

Way, waaaaay back in the day, in C&D, or Motor Trend or something......there was an article all about Smokey. I don't remember the details, but he was quite the showman. Very interesting dude.

My IAT gets to 175 at idle on 90 degree plus days , 2022 GT with the stage 2 whipple , on the whipple tune. The air intake is sealed but its open on the bottom . Not sure why they designed it this way . My Cylinder head temps will get into the 230s, but water temp always stays right in the middle . When on the move the IAT and CHT are a lot lower .

The temp gauge is a fancy looking idiot light. The stock tune starts pulling timing at 150 degrees IAT

Generally the engine coolant temp runs about 10 degrees cooler than the CHT's
