That method also kills your cruise control and would activate no-lift-shift if the vehicle is equipped with it.Usually, the "press the clutch" thing is a switch attached to the upper clutch arm. If you disconnect it, press the plunger in, and tape it that way, the car thinks the clutch is in and will be ab effective "bypass."
I did that on my 2002 Camaro SS. But there IS a downside. Had a friend who did the same to his Camaro SS and when he went to the dealer, they managed to start it in gear and hit a wall. Then they argued that he had disconnected a safety lockout and they weren't responsible. My solution to thatb one was to speak to the service manager on the ver few times I brough it to Chevrolet and tell him about the bypass so he could warn the mechanics. Never had the issue myself.
