Hi all,
just bought a black GT PP 2018. What a car. Git it since Wednesday and I can't stop smilling! :)

But I have a question and could not find the answer.

When you push the start button without pressing the clutch, the car onlr power up the accessory without starting the car. But after that, is there a way to power up the car without shutting it down and restarting it with the clutch press?

Thanks!

No, you have to push the clutch in and hit the button to start it.

In a manual car, I believe the system always makes you press the clutch in whether in gear or in neutral. I wish it was like older vehicles to where if it was in neutral, you could start it without pressing the clutch.

I wish it would be like the camaro, when you only power on the accessory by pressing the button without the clutch, after that you only have to press the clucth and the car start.

It's one extra step to press off, then press in the clutch and start the car.

Maybe you should have sprung the extra cash for the automatic.

Do you actually have to turn it off or can you clutch in and press start again?

On the auto you can have it in accessory mode then hit brake and start again.

I will retry when I will leave work in a few hours. But I tried yesterday and it did not work. When I hit the button again the car turned off. Maybe I did something else wrong. I will keep you post.

Try clutch in then press and hold start button for the engine to turnover. Might work, otherwise you're just stuck with what you've already figured out.

Fun fact - clutch out and hitting start in traditional cut key terms is the 'run' position. Clutch in and start equates to 'start' as expected. Hitting the power button for the stereo on the dash equates to 'acc' and the radio will play for quite awhile longer. I'm sure most on here know this already, but I'm amazed how many Ford owners don't realize you can power up the radio this way..

Just curious, if you hit the start with the clutch out, could you then bump start the car at that point?

Wait, I don't understand the issue here... When you have only accessory on, all you have to do is push the clutch and press start

Had to double check on my way home. Yes, you can bump start it this way. The run position powers the ignition while accessory does not. Little confusing when the dash says Accessory Power Active..

Usually, the "press the clutch" thing is a switch attached to the upper clutch arm. If you disconnect it, press the plunger in, and tape it that way, the car thinks the clutch is in and will be ab effective "bypass."

I did that on my 2002 Camaro SS. But there IS a downside. Had a friend who did the same to his Camaro SS and when he went to the dealer, they managed to start it in gear and hit a wall. Then they argued that he had disconnected a safety lockout and they weren't responsible. My solution to that one was to speak to the service manager on the very few times I brought it to Chevrolet and tell him about the bypass so he could warn the mechanics. Never had the issue myself.

I'll likely try that when my 2019 Mustang GT fastback PP1 comes in about a month. Good luck!
