Update- I guess all the wheels and columns come with this. My new wheel didn’t have these wires so I just left the female connector on the column empty. Everything appears to be functioning normal. Double checked my window sticker- nope, no heated steering wheel. Oh well, just weird.

I’m in the middle of swapping over to a new steering wheel. I have the original off and am in the process of moving the control. I discovered this. It appears to. W wiring for a heated steering wheel which I don’t have. I don’t know if the factory just installs this in every car or what but what do I do now? This grey plug is attached to the factory wheel. It plugs in just below where the steering nut goes in. Do I just leave it empty?

You can imagine the combination of options and components people will buy with their cars. To save on costs, Ford will have one harness, and leave many sockets empty and disconnected when not needed.

Why do so many feel the need to alter their perfectly good functional steering wheel???
Why do people constantly feel the need to question what other people do? :giggle:

OP, let’s see that new wheel when it’s installed. :like:

Not an unresnable quetion for sure, adds nothing.
Except it is the only part of the car you actual touch (with your hands) when you're driving it. Besides, it's a Mustang. If you're not modifying it, go buy a Prius.

Cory S.
What "perfectly functional" items did YOU remove to hit 9.53 at 145MPH?

I replaced mine at about 15,000 miles due to the factory one having junk materials and it was already showing wear at the seams.

Weird. My 7 year old wheel still looks better than new.

That's a nice looking wheel.

This is one of those things that I haven't really looked at... but it does look great! Bet it feels way nicer than the stocker.

Where did you purchase from (sorry if I missed it)? I'd have to do something custom that matches the ceramic interior I have - different strip and stitching maybe.

Sticker shock though I would think..

How was the install itself?
