Would a shifter like the MGW offer shift fork protection given that it doesn't have any play and is bolted to the transmission? The Steeda Tri-ax race shifter is a good shifter, but after the SN95 platform, they no longer have stop bolts that can be adjusted to prevent bending or breaking shift forks. You will have to address thst internally with billet aluminum shift forks.
Knowing what I know about the MT82 tranny and shifters, I wouldnāt swap out the factory one for a short lever only. To firm things up a bit, you can add the Steeda shifter bracket with poly bushing and a transmission bushing insert.
