Hey folks,

I'm currently running Conti DSW06+ tires on my non-handling package Mach 1 and they are doing a great job. I'm looking to purchase a set of tires for occasional roll-racing and 1/4 mile racing as traction control is intervening when the A10 shifts in track mode. I'm at 4000+ foot elevation so I imagine that this issue will become more profound as I race closer to sea level.

The ideal tire is one that I can mount at home, drive to the track, and not be concerned if I get caught in the rain.

I see that some new Extreme Performance Summer and Max Performance Summer tires have launched in the past six months. I'm leaning towards the Extreme Performance Summer category, for example the Yokohama’s ADVAN A052, Conti Extreme Contact Force. It is a lot to take in.

Any tire suggestions are appreciated. @Discount Tire because you might know a thing or two about tires.

My suggestion would be Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. I used them the past couple of summers on my Ecoboost, and will be going on my Mach 1 this upcoming summer (will be alternating with with the stock Cup 2’s when the weather is good). I’m sure you’ll see these suggested in many places, but I have absolutely no complaints as they’ve worked great for me. Should be a reliable tire for some track use but also will have no issue handling the rain. Also, these are the tires Ford uses on the Mach 1’s at the track attack events, so that should also tell you something.

A052s would be a great choice. I normally wouldn't say that because I don't want you alls buying up all the sets ... but I have a fresh set which just got delivered by Fedex today, so you lucked out and get the honest opinion.

A052 has the best longitudinal grip of any street tire I've personally seen.... AND they're fantastic in cool and wet conditions.

I put these on my Mach after the original tires decided to wear down to cords before I hit 5000 miles and they're amazing. They feel just as sticky as the cup 2's, although, I wasn't able to fully test the tires as I was just daily/cruising with the car and haven't taken it to any auto cross events or tracks. They seem to grip just as well for every maneuver or hard accels I've done.

Pilot sport 4S are great tires and should serve you fine unless you plan to boost. I have them on my Shelby with 700ish wheel and they do an admirable job.

I love the Continental Extreme Contact Sports. Been a great tire for all weather, and grips.

I've had the Michelin PS4S's on a couple of cars now. They are about the best street/spirited driving tire I've found. I had to go with the Continental ExtremeContact Sport due to availability and I can say the Conti's are just a half tick behind the Michelins but a fantastic tire as well. The Conti's are a bit more tire pressure sensitive and might require a pound or two more psi to be more in tune with the Michelins but you really can't go wrong with either.

OP asked for tires for drag strips (1/4 mile racing) and roll racing. In that case, I would recommend the Nitto 555rii drag radial, which performs great on both and can handle rain. If he hadn't mentioned 1/4 racing, I would definitely say either the Michelins or Continentials mentioned above.

I'm thinking a step above the PS4s is warranted.

What other tires have you tried in a similar class? The reviews of this tire is great and the size selection is wide. Would like a picture of your rears...Thanks!

i’ve had many sets of RT660, RE71R(discont), MP4S, MPSS, stock PZeros, and briefly driven or passenger in cars with various others (Hoosier A7, RS4, Indy 500, etc) in autox settings.

heres a pic of the 315s on 11” and 12” wheels

I think we are confusing "Roll" and "Road". That Yokohama will do great at "Road" Racing. Never heard of them in a "Roll" Race or 1/4 mile dragstrip.

OP, are you talking about a 1/4 drag strip when you say track, or a road race track, ie autox or similar? There is a big difference in the tires used for each.

Michelin 4s hands down. Conti's 2nd choice.
