Child sitting on vert closed top? Doable?

The St. Louis Cardinals have opening day honorees ride in/on Mustang convertibles for introductions. Look at this video, starting at about 1:10-


It looks to me like they are actually sitting more the top of the back seat and not much on the closed top. Anyway, if Mark McGuire didn't dent the top, I wouldn't worry much about that.

I don t have a vert so not sure where a safe sitting spot would be if any. Obviously the kid would be supervised by an adult . I d be more concerned of him falling out the back if not attended . I understand the situation as I had someone I know well ask me to take one of his employees two teens to their prom in my Porsche Panamera instead of the usual limo thing. The kids loved the car and I shared a little time for them. Their was no safety concern in that situation. Use your own good judgement.

Tell her that you’re concerned about the rear window being damaged, which would precipitate the entire top requiring replacement at about $4K, so if she wants to underwrite that possibility…

Thanks for all the input. After seeing the St. Louis video I decided to let her ride on the back seat top and I’ll drive. If she does get on some of the top I don’t think it could be any worse than McGuire riding there.

And those were Ford dealership cars used in the St Louis video as well. Knowing how expensive convertible repairs are, I just cannot fathom a dealership risking their convertibles, even if they had to repair them at their cost.

Sitting on top of the backrest top should not be a problem.
Sitting on the soft top itself can leave marks, when parts of the folded soft top rub the hood fabric.
The same marks that occur in some cases when you drive a lot top down and only the soft top weight is responsible for it.

It will be fine. I have done it for a few parades. Top down. 2 people sitting on the top. I have a 2015 convertible.

Lol. Since we're all someone's kid, I hereby nickname you crotchfruit.....

A buddy of mine uses his 2015 drop in the 4th of July parade every year in the same way. I'm sire this will work out fine. Just tell her to be aware abd careful not to mess up your car.
