Nice pivot of the goal posts (new vehicles only).

Well, im also a fan of the s550 Mustang GT so im not sure how we even got here. Ive got one parked in my garage right now that makes 1k horsepower with a motor I built with my own two hands. There aren't many folks who've had one of these cars further taken apart than myself.

My original comments were surrounding build quality and other redeeming features of the GR86.
first, as others have noted you moved the goalposts to built cars.

second, you have a four digit S550. great. nobody cares because you traded some degree of reliability for speed OR you've zoomed right passed this 45K mark because it has everything that power level needs. including the cost of time in R&D.

third, you get what you pay for and a fox platform car with 45K worth of work in it won't be as nice as a new S550. the platform itself is the limitation. IRS, everything from maximum motorsports, built motor, and none of it matters because at the end of the day when you fix everything ford did wrong you're right on the knife's edge of it being a race car.

sounds cool until you want to drive it a lot on normal roads.

fourth, again i almost got a GR86 because of how good they are at that price point. its the best 30K coupe out there. period. the EB's are faster but the 86 has a LOT packed into that price point.

the point here is this: for 45K nothing being manufactured today is as good as a PP1 mustang GT.

You‘ve inadvertently hit the nail on the head. Those things are exactly what I love about the GT, and why I’ll have the V-8 as long as they offer it. I doubt I’m alone.

Resorting to your last sentence usually means there’s no other cogent argument left.
It wasn't inadvertent.

If you want to go serious drag racing (sub-9) then the V-8 is your only choice. If you are doing big track stuff road racing, then you'll likely want the V-8 as well (although an Eco won SCCA T3 three years running). If you want to make really big HP for whatever reason, then the V-8 makes a ton of sense.

The other thing is the sound. Whether or not this is a thing for me, I can appreciate that some this is important to some people. Whatever.

However, if you just don't give a shit about anybody else's opinion and want a fun, really good handling car that is plenty quick to get you in trouble and faster than any pre-2015 Mustang ever built. Something like an HPP isn't a bad choice. As the years have gone by, they've raise the price of the HPP package, so it's not quite the bargain it was in 2020. I'd think that probably also works into the equation.

A 301a gt with ohlins and retrofitted 6 pots is cheaper and way better even if you pay dealer shop rates 😁

I'm about to buy my third eco to join the GT/pp1 I've had since Jan '19.

The biggest issue I have with the GT is I can’t stop spending money on it. Can’t imagine I’d have that issue with an EcoBoost…
This. OMG this, so much!!!

I can't stop spending either. I think I'm very VERY close to breaking 6 figures and the car only cost 65k CDN + HST Tax. This is not by any stretch of the imagination a pissing contest this is introspective therapy. I've had to lock up my wallet for the year and I'm hoping my Supercharger install woes aren't going to cost me another 5-10k.

Pretty sure this is how.
Nothing wrong with an EB mustang other than the car is too heavy for a 4 cylinder, they sound like dogshit (worse than a coyote if that's even possible), and are overpriced.
The Ecoboost disses are expected here, but you likely baffled a few "five-oh or die" types here with the parenthetical part of your comment! You might be the first I've come across to imply that the coyote engine doesn't sound so good... 😂, so that's probably why some folks reacted.

Come on out to an autocross and I'll paddle your ass red. Then you might understand.
I’ll take my gtr or my fbo eagle eye sti with tein coilovers and a bunch of other suspension mods so i can laugh at your 4 cyl rwd mustang… i don’t need to understand… i want a mustang, i got the V8, i want turbo noises and agile chassis, got the sti… want the monster engine with the agile chassis, got the gtr… even the gtr is less than 200 lbs heavier with almost double the power and traction… so, your point… pointless…

funny the lies the ecoboost owners tell themselves in order to sleep better at night for not getting a nice V8 rumbling mustang

don’t be mad… It’s just a joke… like the “high performance” badge on ecoboost mustangs lol

a lot of people don't get that the turbo cars have more usable torque. these V8's like to rev out to make all that power. its a feature, not a bug, but also why the EB cars are so popular and useful.
The usable torque is laughable… I’ll get the popular to being pretty and cheaper

I said is laughable because in regular city driving, a regular gt won’t feel torqueless whatsoever… and if you are gonna race, that BS that we are gonna both run in this gear, partial throttle, one window down 100% the other one only 56% down, on a Wednesday won’t happen… you down shift to your optimal gear and that’s it…

now…this is an ecoboost I’ll get if I want

nobody said it would.

the video is to demonstrate a difference between a high revving V8 and a torquey turbo motor.

if you can't see that i can't help you.

Yeah, i see it… if you don’t see that at the end, if they race properly, the gt350 will be faster anyway, I can’t help you.

yeah, tq is fun, that’s why people on diesel trucks think they are fast

Oh so the one built for a more niche market had less power readily available in the middle of the powerband where most people spend their time on the ole commute?

You're talking about speed and im talkin about mundane usability.

You arent even in the right ballpark of the category of argument.

Again…. On regular commute driving, all that massive torque from the ecoboost won’t make any major difference…. Oh my, that massive tq wave to 35-55 mph…

to me, just ways to convince themselves… to me? The cheaper factor will play a bigger role than that tq
