…the Whipple and tune is the same as the Super Snake, its the same Supercharger ….
I think another way to say this is that Shelby just buys off-the-shelf Whipple kits and installs them plus some more add-ons, then doubles the price (or more).

I am going to get it in writing , if they will not I will cancel the extended warranty I purchased and get a refund . easy as that ...lol
That install costs are insane. Are the custom dyno tuning as well?
Its the same supercharger kit they use on the Super snake and tuned the same . I am not trying to go overboard , it will be a little over 800 at the flywheel .

Yeah, the mark ups are ridiculous for Shelbys , Saleen or Roush. I paid less than MSRP for my fully loaded Gt with X plan discount so adding this will still be a lot cheaper than Buying one of the above . and I want to keep it low key, looking stock , I am just going to buy wider rims and tires .

So you are getting the whipple stage 2 which is 825 HP. Shelby America doesn't do a thing to the whipple supplied tune. Don't let them fool you and charge in excess.

You are correct an ASE mechanic needs to do the install to get the whipple 3/36000 warranty.

Your price directly from whipple for both would be $9945. Lethal just was running 10% off the whipples and probably will again come black Friday if you can wait for a deal

Yeah, I am pretty sure the dealer is marking it up. This is why I am debating whether have the dealer do it or have one of the performance shops do it. I am leaning more towards the dealer because if they screw something up It will be easier to get it fixed , at least i think so.

I will say that Shelby American appears to lock the tune. At least it appears they did on my '17 since I get error codes associated with a locked tune while trying to pull it using HP Tuner equipment 🤷‍♂️ so there's that at least.

From the datalogging I've been able to pull, the tune seems to be pretty consistent with a Stage 2 whipple tune. My understanding is that Shelby American dynos the Super Snakes before leaving the factory to ensure it works right, and then locks it.

I don't really care though. I paid for the name.

I will be happy with 825 HP , not trying to go crazy. I am just going to have Ford do the install and keep the extended warranty.

I hate to say it, but it’s not going to have 825hp.

You will be in the 680whp range.
This is likely about where you’ll be sitting with an off the shelf stage 2 kit on pure 93 with no octane boosters and no other power modifications.

If we do a little math using some (likely inaccurate and exaggerated) “driveline loss” figures we get the following using 10% “loss”….

0.9x = 680

Solve for x which is our flywheel hp

x = 680/0.9

x = 755 flywheel horsepower

Although I’m pretty convinced it’s even less than that with an off the shelf stage 2 kit. Probably closer to 725-730 flywheel horsepower. It’s still enough to run 10s with the 10R80 though.

If you’re that concerned with warranty why aren’t you looking at Roush? They make the Ford Performance supercharger that is covered under warranty if installed by a Ford dealer.

I only ask because warranty seems to be a concern, personally I’d prefer to install the Whipple in my garage…

My tuner quoted me $11,500 for all parts, material and installation labor w/tune. Oh, new oil pump as well. But he's in Northern VA. Not to mention all the Ford dealers around the area send knuckle headed Mustang owners his way (that's how I met him).

The Stage 2 is advertised as 825/640 on a 93 tune. I believe the Whipple tune is for 91. Do not know how much loss there is with 91 compared to 93.

At 10% driveline loss
825 - 83 = 742 whp
800 - 80 = 720 whp
775 - 78 = 697 whp
750 - 75 = 675 whp

Is the Whipple tune at 91 going to result in that much difference?
