Anyone running Roush Axlebacks with a Ford Performance X Pipe?

It's not as bad without long tubes but cold starts will still be loud af. Backed in with garage door helps. But keep in mind once warm it's not bad. On the stock tune it'll quiet down after about 30-40 seconds but will be super loud til then lol.

Lol yeah there is no way I’ll ever get long tubes. I at least know that and I definitely want to keep the stock tune for warranty sake. I am trying to be disciplined with this one Well 30-40 seconds isn’t horrible considering I can back the car out before starting. Plus my neighbors have their lawn care going at 7am so maybe I’ll be okay.

I have the Roush axle back and with an x-pipe its to loud for me..Doesn't sound good IMO,So I installd a Magna-Flow resonator and sounds much better and gives it a deep tone.

It's gonna be loud lol. Get some pool noodles to stuff in the exhaust on cold starts if you want to be more considerate of the neighbors.

I saw videos of that was thinking about getting them to start prepping for it early lol. Does it really quiet it down that much from your personal experience?

I like the rasp the X pipe gives off but to each their own. Did the magnaflow resonator quiet it down quite a bit with the axlebacks on?

It still has a nice rumble but much deeper sound...I am not into that rasp sound.

I don't do it, I just drive my other car if I leave early. But I've heard people say it makes enough difference to not annoy anyone.

I use pool noodles on cold starts. I live in a very quiet neighborhood with some elderly people. I do it to be considerate.
It works, cold start with the Roush axle backs (stock resonator) and pool noodles is quieter than stock. Its cheap and easy to do, If I remember correctly I got mine at big lots. I don't remember what size you need, some fit as is, bigger or smaller ones need to be altered a bit. The Roush tips are welded together and that weld penetrates into the pipe and helps grab on to the noodle. Kind of hard to explain but you'll see when you get in there.

As far as the original question, I have the stock resonator with the Roush axle back and cold starts are very loud. I can't imagine how loud it'll be without the resonator, it'll wake the dead.
Also if the police in your area hassle people with loud exhaust, you may run into trouble. You aren't sneaking up on anyone, lol

There is a Harley on my street, so people probably don't think too much about mine. I do park in a garage and typically only drive my car on the weekends. That means the cold start is not until around 9 AM unless I plan to wash it. I have Hpipe and axle backs and yes it is loud. Young man across the street from me recently bought an 18 and told me he was going to try to mimic mine in sound. He parks outside and leaves for work at midnight. That loud crack wakes me every night....but I just smile and go back to sleep, thinking at least mine is not as loud when started in the garage.

I tend to keep the revs as low as possible when driving through my neighborhood, but I have been told by a neighbor he hears me leave the light about a mile from our entrance and the downshifts before I turn into the neighborhood.

I am so glad my car has AE.. Headers, Borla Type S.. Starts in quiet mode (which is actually relatively quiet) until 10am then I don't care. In normal the cold starts are obnoxious but I've never had anyone complain. Sport, track... Loud AF. Sounds awesome Traveled all over with wife, kids, and my mother in law and no one had any issue with the volume at cruising speeds in normal.

Thank you for the very detailed reply man I appreciate that! Maybe I’ll just try the Roush Axlebacks first and save the X pipe until I’m in a different area lol. I think as long as I’m not like punching it everywhere, I should be good. Just picked up the car yesterday so I’ll throw them on maybe this week or next weekend! Gotta prepare some pool noodles

You will eventually add the X or H pipe mark my works. While the cold start is loud you will want more sound when out on the road. New mufflers alone will not be enough. It goes beyond sound volume also. You get better tone to the entire system.

I added a X-pipe to my AE and the cold starts are unbearable. So yes get ready for noodle life.

Roush Axle backs with Mishimoto H pipe here, cold starts are very loud, luckily I don’t have neighbours lol normal driving it’s not nearly as loud as I feared, if anything, I’d like more!! Sounds great to me though.
