Hey guys, I bought a 2018 Whipple 5.0 on Saturday, May 28th, and it blew up Monday, May 30th…

I got the car PPI’d before purchase and even drove it 800 miles back home, the cause of the blown motor isn't abuse, I’ll get into reasoning after this whole financial fiasco gets resolved.

what’s my cheapest plan of action? I have it at a Ford dealership getting a diagnosis, although I know the main cause of the problem already, just want service records to back my claims before I go out spewing out my reasoning. The Car is too low for them to bring into the shop (from their parking lot…) so I’m a while out before they can tow my car 50ft into a lift to fully check the car, but I believe the engine may be seized. Is it possible to replace the short block with a built MMR short block and be good to go? Or will I be looking at 15k+ in engine replacement out of warranty (ouch)?

I just sold my MKV Supra to get into a cheaper car (39.5k as opposed to 59k), but with a ~15k engine replacement I’ll be close to back at MKV Supra money (hell, even GT350 money) for a 400a GT Premium… hurts to think about.

Wow!

That completely sucks!

Are you sure it was ok when you actually got it? I mean, there’s some crooked people out there that would stick in some thicker oil or do some things to get it by until the car has been picked up...

Unless of course you ran something over and punctured the oil pan and had the oil all come out and then seized the motor yourself. The car is really low as you said...

Tell us more on how you know the engine is FUBAR and seized.

I guess the only way of knowing what can actually be salvaged is to pull it apart and see...

Good luck.

Well, that’s exactly what happened haha, fully scraped over super tall speed bump and deployed a smoke shield with the amount of white smoke coming out of my exhaust, pulled over within 500 feet and engine died. Insurance may cover as collision, But I’m not sure, it’s why I didn’t put the reason originally, but from the ford dealerships parking lot inspection, they don’t think that’s the cause. Waiting till they can lift it to see if I was right. Don’t want to spread that reasoning just to hear back that I threw a rod or something.

Ouch!

Exactly how high was this speed bump and how fast were you going?

In for details when it’s time to tell...

wait..whut?

So you just bought a Whipple’d S550 5.0, with a lowered suspension, drove it over too tall of a speed bump possibly busting the oil pan (ie: smoke screen) and now you’re asking if you will be responsible for the repairs or if Ford will cover it?

Am I reading your quoted posts correctly? Is this a joke?

Why did it take 500 feet before you pulled over?

Rough estimate, but I couldn’t tell anything was wrong until I saw the smoke maybe 100 feet past the speed bump, and I pulled over when a shoulder opened up on the road I turned onto

Another reason why I leave all my vehicles at stock ride height. It's just a Pony car, not a Ferrari.

Anytime you lower a performance car of any brand you will run the risk. Because Ferrari sits lower than a mustang it might even be worse.
