Well, I've been getting cylinder mis-fire codes: PO305 and PO316. Cylinder misfire #5. So, out of curiosity I pulled the plug last night just to see what I could see. I also pulled #1. Both of them have oil on the threads but 5 is worse. Clearly the porcelin is darker on 5 than 1. I swapped the plugs of 1 & 5 and I'm going to see how it responds. If I get the same misfire then I will swap coils. While the oil seems to be worse in 5 I'm not convinced that that it is bad enough to cause a misfire. I guess what I'm saying is that I'm not sure what the cause of the discoloration is...oil residue or unburned fuel from a weak plug or coil. The plug may be a bit darker but it is clearly firing to some degree. Few bits of info...I am Lund E85, Driven DI 30 oil and a JLT catch can. It has 6800 miles and yes, it is using oil. I am about 3500 miles into this oil change and I've used a little over a quart. As far as how the car is drive, honestly 90% of the time, like a grandpa. Penny for your thoughts.
My 71,000 Ls3 plugs looked way better than my 6000 mile coyote plugs. :(

The bottom plug is healthy the top plug is not.

What are the gaps on the plugs?

I would check that.

Replace the spark plug and do some logging. Could be just a bad spark plug.

You might want to hammer on the car a little more after you get this fixed. These cars want to be heat cycled and E85 burns cooler as it is. Spark plugs need heat.

I would check that.

You might want to hammer on the car a little more after you get this fixed. These cars want to be heat cycled and E85 burns cooler as it is. Spark plugs need heat.
Very good point, thank you for the advice. So do you find the oil around the threads concerning?

Yeah, although I dont have the exact amount, I've used at least a quart and maybe a bit more (not checked in the last 500) over the last 3500 miles.

A quart every 3500 is normal for this engine. If you don’t have more consumption than that I wouldn’t worry about the oil. Might send Lund an email and see if you should switch back to 93. They will also most likely want logs.

I do know a lot of E85 guys change plugs often. E85 is awesome but it has some downsides.

I did consider seeing what they thought but I hate to drag them in on it if it is just a part failure (ie...plug or coil). I think I will see how this plug swap goes and then potentially do a coil pack swap (pending results) and if that continues to net the same result, I will drop them a line. Thats interesting about the frequent plug swaps. I've also heard that semi-frequent wideband swaps are recommended. Thank you again for the input, very helpful.

I am always a fan of taking the cheapest and easiest route first then working my way up the expensive/hard chain.

Ok, you have convinced me, I will take your advice and do that. Thank you for the encouragement. I just hate to bother them as I know they are really busy right now.

Well, Jon Jr. wants me to switch back to 93 and see how it responds. Said he has seen some DI issues cause Misfires on 18/19's

Mine started out like that and is now at RevAuto getting torn apart. Funny enough had the Lund e85 tune and started having starting hesitation. Instead of getting looked at I went whipple. Starting issue got worse, plugs kept fouling and then the oil issues got really bad and coming up through catch can on drivers side head dripping into the intake box and also getting sucked into supercharger. I find out this week, hopefully, what is wrong.

Advise, get it looked at now by a shop asap. I would. Be worried about a mechanical issue like you have

Car is a 2018 a10 Lund e85 tune for about 12k miles and whipple about 6k.
