I took it to All Aspects Motorsports in Chesapeake. They have 2 dozen Subarus parked out front, so at least my car's color fit in.sounds exciting ... post some pictures
I was worried about heat and humidity affecting the power, but once I arrived at the shop the temperature had gone down. The humidity was still ridiculous. I had 93 octane gas in the car, and the humidity was higher than my octane.
My car is a 2020 GT (6-spd manual) and it's stock. 9,140-ish miles on it.
I broke it in as best I could, and wanted to see the results.
TL/DR: 419hp @ 6600rpm, 418 ft-lbs @ 4400rpm (at 71 degrees and 94% humidity)
Once the car was strapped down, they tried to spin the rollers and make sure the engine was warm, and the computer fussed and threw an ABS code. It wasn't happy about having the front tires sit still and the back tires turning. ...So that was a really short pull.
(I wonder if we should have tried the line lock)
We started searching the internet for whether the car had a "dyno mode" we needed to use. One guy found something that prompted him to unplug this thing near the driver's side front strut.
(And for some reason I can't get it to post rightside up.)
The first dyno pull, they tested in 3rd gear, going all the way to redline, and got 388hp.
Right away I was like "That SUCKS"
We decided to try the next pull in 4rd gear, knowing the car could trip the 150mph governor in that gear. Sure enough, the governor shut down the fun at 6600rpm, thinking the car was going naughty speeds. But before 6600rpm, the dyno measured 409hp.
Before the 3rd and final pull, the guys decided to cool the engine bay as much as they could. The display between the gauges showed the cylinder heads getting hot.
The 3rd pull got us 419hp and 418 ft-lbs of torque.
(My scanner isn't hooked up right now. Please excuse the crappy cell phone pic of the dyno printout. At least it's higher resolution than the cell phone video.)
Ford said a 2020 Mustang GT made peak power at 7500rpm and, sure enough, my highest graph line is climbing slightly when the 150mph governor cuts in.
I don't have much to complain about considering I was expecting 405-ish horsepower, hoping for 415, and what I got was 419hp.
EDIT: Now it occurs to me that the 3rd gear pull did serve a purpose. It shows the shape of the power curve all the way to redline. This test might have missed a couple of hp above 6600rpm but whatever the maximum power, it's part of a plateau that goes from at least 6000 to 7300rpm.
